Best Update Ever

- inline images - edit text of multiple file types - download and preview any file type IOS supports Still elegant and simple. This is the best of all of the note-taking/text apps. The cognoscenti bloggers love Bear. But, Bear uses tags for organization. 1Writer uses folders on Dropbox. What this means is that 1Writer syncs with ANY text editor on Mac or PC. The other note/text apps require their own client on Mac or PC. 1Writer also offers an excellent URL Scheme so it is as programmable as any other editor among those that do not have an embedded scripting language, which is overkill unless you are looking for a time-waster instead of an app for getting work done. Having tried every credible text app, several of which are good, 1Writer is the best.

Great for productivity

Love this app, as all programmers love to use markdown for note taking! It would be better if we could have color highlight for code blocks. I personally would like to have this feature even if I have to purchase it.

Great! One thing I’d like to see

The Beeple

This app really provides a distraction free, easily comprehensible writing environment. I use it for everything from chapter drafts to blog posts to research notes. That being said I’d like to see support for the triple dash line divide that I’ve seen in other markdown apps and the ability to leave spaces at the beginning of a paragraph(not talking about tab indentation, just to be clear.) I don’t have much issue with the existing app. It works perfectly well, but I would easily give 5 stars if it had a few more formatting options!

I would like to like this

Geoff_with_a_G

The interface is great. The app is easy to use. But the Dropbox integration is broken; it has eaten my work twice, and it's not going to get a third try. If/when this gets fixed, I'd happily give the app five stars.

Almost There

cpinegar

Closest iOS app to Typora. I wish I could default to the iCloud folder of another application of my choosing, automatically save images to a subfolder of my choosing, choose to see images inline, etc.

Best writer app.

Before use Draft 4 and this app good enough. But 1Writer is better, because there are folders, tags, good dark themes, Dropbox support etc. 10/10

Best plain-text iOS app

gcoghill

Tried them all. 1Writer is the best. Simple interface that stays out of your way. Custom keyboard row and actions/scripts add tons of functionality. Cloud sync always works great. Excellent mobile companion to the nvALT app on macOS.

Do you use Markdown? Get 1Writer

Aviris

I have many text editors on macOS, Windows, and iOS, and 1Writer allows me to see, edit, and write wherever I am. It’s the easiest way to work with Markdown on my phone that I’ve found (yes - despite 1Writer meeting all my needs, I still flirt with the other / new software, but always come back to 1Writer)

Best app for plain text editing

Skytouch

Last decade I began to separate content from style as a CSS + HTML based website designer. I normally write all content as plain text, then import and style as appropriate for web, print, etc. My file structure is mainly plain text files organized by client and project into folders. 1Writer is ideal for working this way. I can quickly browse and edit cloud-based files on the iPad, then do likewise on the Mac using a standard text editor and Finder. Sync between platforms has been working well for me. I prefer this paradigm to other text editing apps that bundle multiple documents into a single large package. The 1Writer interface is thoughtfully designed, uncluttered and stable. Markup is a welcome bonus at times that I use it.

One of the few left that syncs with Dropbox

Bluesgreenspurple

Thanks for still syncing with Dropbox. Other apps used to synch with third parties but for some reason most are iCloud only. I use an iPhone and a windows laptop so finding apps that work across both is a pain sometimes. 1Writer allows me to write and see my notes on my iPhone while still allowing me to use my windows machine to edit and write as well. Finally the tag support is top notch here and I can navigate/view my tags here in the app and on my laptop so I’m very happy. Thanks to you developers working on this app.
