Simple and Clean but Buggy

Doodaddy

It’s okay — the Dropbox integration works way better than Editorial. JavaScript actions are a nice touch. But the paste bug is really obnoxious — after you paste with an external keyboard, you lose all cursor control. Plus, the down arrow (again, external keyboard) sometimes moves to the end of the document with no modifier pressed. I dunno...I just expect better from a paid program than some random external keyboard bugs.

Great app!

Nice companion to Obsidian. Would love to see OneDrive support.

Excellent Markdown App - Some Suggestions

taward09

I love this app. Navigation is great, it supports [[backlinking]], ![embeds](), and #tags like a champ. I use Obsidian with iCloud and this pulls in all of my files with ease. My favorite feature is the customizable markdown extended keyboard, which makes writing in markdown even simpler. However, I do have suggestions: • Backlinks between folders - 1Writer has a difficult time recognizing backlinks between sub folders within the root folder. For example, if I have a link to [[1 Peter]] in my current note located in “/Personal/Daily Notes” it will not identify the document “1 Peter.md” located in “/Personal/Books” • Enhanced Shortcuts Integration - So far, the only action one can take with Shortcuts is “Open with 1 Writer.” An option to “Create New Note with (variable)” or “Save file in (specified folder)” would be incredible. This would make it easy to create multiple notes with Shortcuts and automatically save them to the appropriate folder. Currently I have a workaround that saves a .txt file in a /shortcuts folder in iCloud that I have to rename to .md and open with 1Writer. • iCloud folder access aside from /iCloud/1Writer - I have my Obsidian vault saved in /iCloud Drive/1Writer and it works fine, but using additional apps can be difficult. Setting up root folders outside of /1Writer would be nice. • Additional Themes/WYSIWYG/Easier-to-reach Preview button - these are much lower level suggestions, but additional themes, a “what you see is what you get” style processing, or simply an extended keyboard button to toggle preview mode/moving the preview button to the bottom of the screen are simple QOL changes. That said, AMAZING!

My go to text editor

Exjoey

This App allows me to keep structured notes in the way I want to. I could use Markdown but mostly prefer plain text. There are features available that I don’t use, including a powerful scripting engine language to process my notes.

Great tool for markdown

Daiago

I came to 1Writer looking for a tool to edit my markdown files (as part of an Obsidian vault). It gives me all the right tools I need to be able to work quickly in my database fo md files and the interface gives me everything I need to make the process fast. it is a great plain text editor!

Best Cross Platform Sync for Windows

Jaak Johanson

Using VS Code as a notes editor on Windows and Mac with 1writer on iOS is the best note taking experience, hands down!

2021 and no update for iPadOS 14. How?

As close to perfect as you can get

This is everything I was looking for in a markdown editor. Would love to see additional themes/Home Screen icons in the future, even if they’re paid.

Works for my needs

PineBreeze

My needs are a simple text message editor that can handle larger files, which it does really well. You can also dive into some extended, cool functionality if you need to. My only negative would be that while the editor is open and I’m editing a file, if I rotate the phone (usually by accident) and rotate it back the app hangs for a couple seconds then crashes. I’ve never lost data from this happening, so it’s a minor annoyance. It’s been a very reliable app for my needs for years.

Works great with Obsidian + Dropbox

Love it. Links work properly and images render. Woohoo!
