Excellent Markdown editor

This app has many well-thought out options and an intuitive design. It works well not only as a markdown editor, but also has search functionality that is useful for managing many documents.

I bought all the other recommended text editors for the iPhone (Byword, iAWriter, etc). 1Writer has trumped them all and I don't even remember to use all the advanced features most of the time. It syncs fast, I've never had an issue with it and the developer is friendly and quick to reply to support requests. I think I like it most for the ease of use, the night mode for typing, and the simple text display. The productivity features are a big bonus as is the customizable toolbar. But even without them I'd still be a fan.

I originally gave this one star because it doesn't find/replace text built-in the app; however, after doing some digging, it turns out you can install it by going to the app's official website on the device you have the app installed and looking for the "action directory," then installing it from there. In fact, I'm actually extremely hype for this action directory of theirs at the moment, as it looks like you can create/install custom scripts into the app (they also have a library of scripts of their own on the site). Freaking rad. That said, this looks to be the only Markdown editor available for the iPad Pro, including full multitasking support. It also has inline Markdown preview (awesome) and, unlike some other editors we won't mention, handles this feature with large, 700k+ character documents just fine. Still, it would be nice to have find/replace, built in the app instead of having to invoke the scripts menu every time you want to quickly find "next" or "previous."

This editor is great. Easy to use and extensible. I only wish it had Seafile as a service.
Promising, but Dropbox sync is buggy

This app has the chance to be a major contender in the iOS writing space, but in my usage, I've found Dropbox sync to be really spotty. I've never lost data, but 1Writer consistently creates conflict documents, which makes me worry about versioning and document integrity. Otherwise, this is a really well-made app, and the experience of actual writing has been top notch. Fix the sync, and I'll be back.

This app is the perfect companion to a Dropbox-synced plain text markdown workflow. I use this along with Drafts and am extremely happy with the combination.

I purchased *every* single editor in the App Store, as of 4/18/16. I use this one. It handles markdown much better than the rest.
Perfect writing/note-taking app, especially for power users.

I'm an academic and I do all my note-taking and writing in plaintext/markdown. I've tried a lot of plantext/mardown editors over the years and 1Writer is *clearly* the best iOS plaintext/markdown editor. It's perhaps not for everyone. If you're used to Simplenote/Evernote style applications, it can take a little time to adjust to a different file organization setup. But, to me, 1Writer is just as fast and clean as the simplest apps. Yet it also has tons of thoughtfully designed 'power user' features and through extensions, has infinite flexibility.
