Most complete Note app I've tried

ItsDartstx

I've been using Zoom notes for over 3 years now and I've tried just about every full featured note app in the store. Zoom-notes is by far the better app in this category. Unlike many of the note apps, you can have a different style page or paper for every page in your note books. For me, this was essential for taking notes in a lab environment where data comes in all shapes and styles. Making data gathering templates and saving them as "Paper" is a huge time saver and ensures your note always have a consistent look. Importing PDF, google docs and photos into one neat and organized note book is where the power of this app shines. Import multiple photos at one time, no more hitting import, select photo, paste and repeat. You can even import photos from the camera right on your current page within the app. Being able to edit pen styles, text styles and line and shape styles is a real time saver, especially since you can save these options in groups for later recall. Did you delete something by accident? No problem, files are deleted into a recycle bin first. While hand writing a note, if you make a mistake, just scribble it out and it goes away, no need to hit undo or select and delete, but you can if that's what you're comfortable with. Update: Since the Apple Pencil came out, writing notes is now a real blessing. You can place your entire wrist on the screen and there are no errant marks to be found. No real need to use the Zoom writing tool, just zoom the page up a bit and start writing. Update 12-02-16 The new documents tab has just doubled my productivity by letting me keep the most relevant documents open all at the same time and they can all be from different folders. This is one of the best features yet, high 5 to who ever suggested this feature be added. ZN is still by far the most versatile notes app available and the only one I use on a daily basis for work and home. Update 6/27/17 After finding a couple of minor bugs I contacted tech support and we worked through the bugs in real time via email and found work arounds that got me going until they could fix the problems in a new update. Their tech support team are top-notch!

super app

Here-and-Now

07-23-17, I like this app so much that I'm renewing my review so it shows up in the new version. My satisfaction with this app is still strong, and I'm finding more and more ways to use it. I have the Mac desktop version as well and it is great! Many thanks to the developers, you guys are awesome. It took me a while to learn it, and I'm still going back to the manual pretty often, but after I figured out what this powerhouse app can do, there was no turning back. To me, it's totally worth the candle in every way. Check it out — and thank you to the developers.

TOC and Bookmarks [request]

Ir1s-crown

I have had this app for almost 18 months, and I laid burried untill I revisited it. Due to my need of better writing engine, I ve been using good notes. This is better than goodnotes in every aspect, only thing that keeps me from using it more often is missing table of contents and Bookmarks feature like that of Good Notes. Please bring us this feature, this will enable me to read bigger text books. Thanks

Best app ever!!!

I m so stinking thrilled. Omg. Best app ever. I have the Apple Pencil. This is beyond real. I can add images on my book writing journey and my YaYa RV journey. Love it. Is there a way to lock your writings, so they cannot be erased or wrote over??? UPDATE - Deleting the app today. It is so unintuitive and takes forever to figure it out. Even just bought it for my husband and spent $$, now using One Note. I give up on this one. You cannot even figure out where the eraser is. Bye bye!!

Extraordinary software

JohnF9

I'm a retired computer tech. One of my hobbies is what I call "software gold mining" which is to often search for good programs for my iPhone, iPad and MacBook. I'm extremely critical and maybe one in 20-30 programs I look at will be worth a darn. So many will lack necessary features or perform poorly. To get to the point Zoom Notes is "Gold". It is an extraordinary program that has so many useful features even I haven't discovered them all yet. It does require a little patience to learn. It sounds excessive, but I just hope the Developers continue to update and keep the program going into the future.

Very useful!

My notes are almost always accessible!

Reviewed them all, this is the best

I love puzzle games

I’ve purchased or downloaded virtually all the note taking apps for the iPad Pro with Apple Pencil use. From OneNote, to Penultimate, Noteshelf 2, Notes Plus, etc., I have 18 different apps on my iPad in my search to find one that has everything that I need. In short, Zoom Notes wins hands down. The must-haves for me: — the “paper” must not move when writing and drawing, both when flat on a surface, and when the iPad is in a stand — the writing must be smooth, no lag, no skips, and no errors — there must be a good set of tools configuring color, etc. You’d be surprised how many simply cannot keep the paper still when a palm is resting on the screen, or if one finger inadvertently touches the surface. And getting low lag and responsiveness can be a challenge. (For comparison, Notes Plus and Noteshelf 2 are close, but not perfect.) To summarize, this app has everything. I mean *everything*. I have never seen so many useful features or configurability. Simply amazing. And the most important two: drawing responsiveness is the best of all, it has VERY low lag; and you must use two fingers (though you can switch to one finger if you want) to move the page, in effect keeping the paper still while drawing and taking notes. It’s been a long while since I’ve loved an app so much. $8 is just an incredible bargain for this product. Well done to the author.

Great start!

This note taking software is pretty amazing. The infinite zoom and pages-within-pages feature make it very versatile... it really matches the way I think in terms of how I organize information in my mind. I also love the option to scale the pen size down as you zoom - keeping the appearance of the pen the same at all zoom levels. What’s amazing is the combination of huge zoom ranges and very smooth and fluid ink. Very few apps have as nice a response as this one when it comes to making marks on the page. I believe this app deserves somewhere between four and five stars, taking away perhaps half a star for the fact that it still has some glitches and could be a little smoother. The interface is unconventional but I am getting used to it, though I think in some ways the interface is the one area where this app needs a little work. I wish it had some of the interface conventions and speed /fluidity of notability. The writing is just as smooth, but zooming and changing colors and other features seems a little less efficient than notability and some other drawing apps. The software is clearly being actively developed and I think with a little polish this app could be my preferred solution for both note-taking and classroom instruction! Amazing so far.

Bought all the others, this is the best

Not sure why it took so long for me to find, but man am I impressed. Infinite zoom and canvas with pencil input that feels natural. If you want something for notes or sketching a diagram I would highly recommend.

My Go-To for Hand Notes and Sketches

DrJJWMac

I am updating a rather old review. Improvements move this back from one star to four. I have tried a range of hand-writing/-note-taking/-sketching apps. This is (again) my go-to app among them all. I use it almost entirely now in place of pen + paper. I have yet to exhaust its features. My favorite use is to project whiteboard-like notes using ZoomNotes and an AirPlay app. Pros: Feature rich beyond any other. Among the best in its smooth ink feel. Wrist guard and tool box can be set to handle from left or right side. The main tools are laid out with forethought to common use. Cons: The UI settings can be a bit muddled, exhaustive, or comical looking. For the first two issues, thank goodness for workspaces. You can remove all tools but those that you really want. Neutral: The icons for the tools are … interestingly unique (to each his own here … they remain my least favorite things about this app). Summary: For me, this app is like a funky looking car that I hate to drop because it works so well. Almost since it’s inception, I have wished the UI would undergo a major overhaul. I wish the document handling would be streamlined thoroughly to be sparsely professional. Otherwise, to replace the pen+paper note-taking and sketching work that I need to do routinely, this is absolutely the only iPad app of its class that I will use.
