Slowly adding useful features

3 stars because if springboard crashes or the phone is restarted and you don’t open the app, you won’t get access to any of the messages sent in your chats or notifications for them. You also can’t crop images before sending them. Which is pretty lame. Down to one star because now it comes with more freedom bits. Might as well use Telegram if you’re going with a cloud messenger that’s not E2E.
Impossible to Fully Delete Contacts - No Plausible Deniability

As one of just a few end-to-end-encrypted messengers offering multi-device support and the ability to use a username without a phone number, Wire has a lot of potential. However, it has a major security flaw. Once a connection is made it is impossible to completely delete a contact record. This makes plausible deniability impossible. For many, myself included, that is a fatal flaw.
Broken and support is silent

Had to travel across international borders and needed my phone so I deleted as many apps as possible just to be safe. Redownloaded this one and tried to log in and it asks for the verification code. All well and good except the message (which came thru clear as day in the past) is now indecipherable gibberish of incompatible text encoding garbage. Unreadable nonsense. Emailed support with the issue asking to either delete the account or help me get back in and got an acknowledgement they received it and a reminder that, not being a pro account holder, I could maybe hope that someone might get around to reading it possibly some day but not necessarily so don’t get my hopes up. They move from Germany (makes sense given what their govt just started imposing on tutanota) but they came straight to the heart of the five eyes and then suddenly the service goes to crap. Good thing it’s open source. About time someone forked this piece so we don’t toss the baby with the bath water.
Logs you out for “safety”

After a couple of weeks the app randomly logs you out and says your session has expired. It’s extremely annoying. The app will crash in the middle of a conversation and log you out. What? How is that a safety feature? The auto logout system works for other apps because they tell you how long you have until you’re logged out IF YOU DON’T STAY ACTIVE ON THE APP (otherwise you’ll stay logged in regardless). The app glitches too and lags a lot but oh well.

It’s a very incredible and secure way to communicate and share thoughts with friends and family. Only downside is the function of saving conversations. It’s completely absurd. Why save the previous conversation and use it to rewrite the new one?
