Best messaging app

Analog gibes

This is getting better with each new release! Fantastic design and amazing features coupled with the company’s strong privacy and security stance make for a winning combination! Oh, did I mention it’s open source and audited? Or that it’s available cross platform and works in browsers? Or that it… You get it. Wire is the best there is!

Wire Messanger

Uncle Gritty

all in all a pretty good messenger. there are a few bugs that need to be addressed such as the glitches that go with longer messages.

Why I left Wire today....

Buddhastyle

Privacy is solid. It looks nice However, it has problems with downloading messages sometimes, it’s slow to start a recording and play a recording etc

Won’t login

jasonvorhess

I love using the app, but after getting a new phone and trying to login. All the app does is spin at the login page, and I can’t get it to go any further

“Delete for me” deletes for all on IOS

J-tester

The Delete for Me action is supposed to delete the message only locally. On both my and my friend’s iOS installs of the current version (3.23?) the action deletes the message on both of our phones.

Many Advantages Over Messages

Therealjdawg

Great, private chat app. It has everything that iMessage can do, PLUS: Cross-platform, including Linux Can ping your recipient Can just sign up with only an email Can edit and delete sent messages Tight controls over what devices are on your account Can create permanent chat rooms Video chatting looks and sounds great, even from low end Android devices. Fantastic app, solid and stable. Thanks!

Changing contact list names

elgrego1939

Please add the ability to change the displayed names of people in the contact list. I’m running into trouble keeping track of who is who. Thanks.

Overall nice but minor bugs

Leon_darkblade

The gifs are not working in chat. Like when you go to select one; it works just fine but once it’s in the chat; it stops working altogether. I have asked the people I message if they see the same thing and they see it as well.

Ellipses

WhiteKatsu

My friend insists on sending video messages. Skype screwed us over in their attempt to become a Snapchat clone so she chose Wire. I’m ... not fond of video messaging to begin with, so I’m already biased against it, but the number of times I’ve gotten an ellipses block instead of an actual video is infuriating. A “resend” or “attempt to redownload” would be nice for those obnoxious ellipses blocks. But now it’s giving the push notification of getting a video and nothing is BLOODY THERE. Friend, please. Just text. Video message programs of all kinds just hate me.
