Thermostat Problems

Ian Larrea

I can’t seem to get the Wink to control my Nest Thermostat at all. It says it’s connected after disconnecting and reconnecting 3 times. Then it just locks me out from nest saying the limit was reached. Huh??

Good now

It’s better now

Wink works...sometimes.

I use Wink to link Alexa with an iHome smart plug. That’s it. Not complicated. But it only works sometimes, and I spend way too much time troubleshooting to get it to work again. Turn plug off and on, delete and reinstall Wink app, remove plug from app and rediscover, etc. Customer service has been terrific when I’ve called, but Wink is just not worth the effort. BTW, plug works with Siri 100% of the time.

Not sure if thus app is buggy or if its a classic iOS fail

Very underperforming

Update 30 Mar 2018

Wink went from being awesome to complete garbage. I don’t even use the app anymore. It glitches, not very responsive, no major improvements if any. Stay away from wink.

Bugs galore

Love how everything works however the Apple Watch app is incredibly buggy, brings a 5 star rating for me down to 2 - really disappointed

Overall pretty good

Overall a decent app. It would be nice to know what shortcuts are active by having the button light up. Also I would like to include the alerts on/off in shortcuts.

Need more thermostat products

Got the Wink from my sister. Recently had our a/c replaced which was a Trane. I thought I would use this with the new Trane XL824 thermostat that has wi-fi capability that they installed with it. Unfortunately, Wink does not support this product. Wish Wink would include the Trane thermostat products.

Love it

I have used wink for about 3 months. I started very basic with just 2 switches. I have added various brand of components over this time and some add in easier than others. I had to eMail Wink customer service yo figure out now to add a non listed component. Hey were helpful and that now works. I even added in the Amazon Dot in my bedroom into Wink. That Works fantastic. At night I tell it Alexia All lights off. In a few seconds all the lights are off. I love it and hope you do too.

Works flawlessly for me

The Wink Hub 2 is a strong, steady device and the app functions with it perfectly for me, and I have some pretty darned complicated scenarios that I run with it daily. I have supported devices and unsupported devices connected to the hub and the app controls them accordingly. I have a Maker account and write my own recipes for certain actions in IFTTT and have no problems with them running or communicating between the hub, app, or any of the devices I have attached. Rough estimate of devices I currently have installed is ~50; consisting of in-wall light, dimmer, and ceiling fan switches, On/Off and dimming AC outlet switches, in-wall micro switches, thermostat, window/door sensors, motion sensors, sirens, connected bulbs, you get the picture. They are all automated and have a job to do, and I can do the vast majority of what I want from within the app. The punchline is that it just works and I never have to touch it. I do, but that’s because I can’t help myself...it’s just my nature, but if I leave it alone the robots and shortcuts that I have set up run just fine. Everything plays well with Alexa, IFTTT, whatever. I can’t explain the app, hub, the entire Wink ecosystem working so well with for me and being a complete nightmare for others, but I guess it is what it is. I read one fairly negative comment that stated the app/device was only as good as its firmware, and I absolutely agree with that. I also believe that it can be limited by its owner. So, if having trouble, I’d start looking at device compatibility/support, make sure your network connection is stable, make sure the hub firmware is updated, make sure you have the latest update for the app, make sure your phone”s firmware is updated and supported by the app, check device batteries, and on and on and on. If that doesn’t sound like fun maybe the whole home automation thing really isn’t your bag because the app works fine ;)
