Works flawlessly for me

cbeecham

The Wink Hub 2 is a strong, steady device and the app functions with it perfectly for me, and I have some pretty darned complicated scenarios that I run with it daily. I have supported devices and unsupported devices connected to the hub and the app controls them accordingly. I have a Maker account and write my own recipes for certain actions in IFTTT and have no problems with them running or communicating between the hub, app, or any of the devices I have attached. Rough estimate of devices I currently have installed is ~50; consisting of in-wall light, dimmer, and ceiling fan switches, On/Off and dimming AC outlet switches, in-wall micro switches, thermostat, window/door sensors, motion sensors, sirens, connected bulbs, you get the picture. They are all automated and have a job to do, and I can do the vast majority of what I want from within the app. The punchline is that it just works and I never have to touch it. I do, but that’s because I can’t help myself...it’s just my nature, but if I leave it alone the robots and shortcuts that I have set up run just fine. Everything plays well with Alexa, IFTTT, whatever. I can’t explain the app, hub, the entire Wink ecosystem working so well with for me and being a complete nightmare for others, but I guess it is what it is. I read one fairly negative comment that stated the app/device was only as good as its firmware, and I absolutely agree with that. I also believe that it can be limited by its owner. So, if having trouble, I’d start looking at device compatibility/support, make sure your network connection is stable, make sure the hub firmware is updated, make sure you have the latest update for the app, make sure your phone”s firmware is updated and supported by the app, check device batteries, and on and on and on. If that doesn’t sound like fun maybe the whole home automation thing really isn’t your bag because the app works fine ;)

Bring Watch Support Back

I used this feature every night putting my kids to bed. I had a Bedtime Story shortcut that would and dim all the lights and turn on a reading lamp. Then a Sleep shortcut that would turn everything off. Sad to see this go.

UI needs lots of work.

Interface can be confusing and cumbersome. Shouldn’t be that difficult to turn a light on or off or to open a garage door. Also I am getting intermittent issues with Chamberlain MyQ operability.

End of WatchOS Support? Nooooo!

PianoGeoff

I use the WatchOS Wink app all the time. Now the latest release notes say it is going away if I upgrade. This is functionality I paid for and you are removing it? Can your developers please just learn the new WatchOS framework? Update: Thanks for the reply! I hope your team gets on board with WatchOS SDK 2. Many of the apps I use on my watch have already been updated. Even though Wink’s watch app was slow to initially launch due to the old SDK, I used it all the time, no pun intended.

Where the hell is the watch app

Tyberiusk

I use to love the watch app. Thanks Wink. Now I won’t upgrade to the new hub. I will spend it on another vendor.

GUI NEEDS IMPROVEMENT

Fire Hawk 2010

Missing the Apple Watch features, also I would like to see the ability to customize the startup screen so that it would have Lights + Locks, etc on one page with smaller icons without having to go back and select them on other pages.

No more watch app. This is a step in the wrong direction

They removed the watch app. 1 Star.

Morons

These must be the morons if the universe. This used to be available for Apple Watch and now it’s not? How stupid are you fools. Put down the crack pipe and come correct. Dumb assses

Wink needs to evolve

EuphLlama

Honestly, Wink has been a game changer for my home. I have 20+ devices connected to my Wink Hub 1 and have not felt the need to upgrade to the Hub 2. Some better integration and app layout would be fabulous! When the app is opened up, I would love to be greeted with a favorites/shortcut page with all of the devices I use the most. I would like to change the size of the icons, too, to help fit more devices on the screen. The iPad and Fire tablet apps are jokes and should be changed to better fit large screens. Bigger screens means you can fit more things on them, right? The one device I have been holding out on buying is a smart lock. I would really like to see better integration with smart locks such as creating timers to lock the lock, create schedules where pin codes on the lock can only be used between certain times/days. Automatically have pin codes expire, and get notifications when a specific person has used their code. It’s time to evolve and improve the best smart home hub out there!

Good system but needs updating

Topshot

Overall the Wink system is good. I've been using Wink for almost two years now. The system has been responsive and reliable. However, it appears that Wink is not keeping their software up-to-date. The Wink Apple Watch app was based on WatchOS 1 and was never updated to newer OS versions (latest is WatchOS 4 as of writing). This has caused the watch app to not benefit from advancements to the Apple Watch and has now resulted in the watch app being removed by Apple altogether. The home automation industry is fast moving. If Wink can't keep up-to-date with the platforms it runs on, then it is going to fall to the competition and Wink will itself become obsolete.
