Food’s great but technology needs tweaking

The recommended temperatures seem spot on and I haven’t overdone a steak since getting my iGrill3 about a year ago. The problems have been technical. I can’t turn it on without disconnecting and then reconnecting the battery case — a real pain. (This appears to be a common problem, according to my cursory internet research.) A couple of weeks ago I got it started but it kept disconnecting from my iPhone after a few seconds. After trying an assortment of other fixes to no avail, I finally had to instruct Bluetooth to “forget this device.” When I paired it again (after deleting and reinstalling the iGrill app) it finally worked. But I still need to do the battery thing to turn it on. Again, when it works, BBQing is great and my family thinks I’m a hero. Just wish I could turn it on by pushing the button, as promised in the manual.

The unit disconnects randomly all the time from my phone and the app. I don’t move my phone or unit when it happens. The unit is right outside my glass door so range isn’t an issue.


Unbelievably dumb development

2 hours into my (likely) 12 hour smoke of a very expensive American wagyu beef brisket, the app pops a message saying it’s in ‘maintenance mode’ and cannot be used. How’s that for a kick in the twig and berries! I have no idea what my meat or pit temp is! Who creates an app that can be disabled remotely on a whim? - especially during a time when most guys are starting long smokes?! I am throwing out all my igrill minis after this experience and buying a pitmasteriq.


APP NEEDS UPDATE BUT THERE IS NO UPDATE

The app won't even work now, telling me it needs an update, but when I go into the app store there is no update available.

Ok, this is message I get on this new item, “software no longer supported, get new version from APP store”... go to APP store, ONLY OPTION IS TO “open” the APP, which leads back to unsupported error message again. Not impressed.

I would just ask that you make sure the Apple store has your new version ready before you stop the current version. Keep getting the message that I have to upgrade but the new version doesn’t show up in the App Store. Grrrrrrre!


App is broken...

Go to the app store itself, the update link will be there. But hold off if you can. The update wipes out all your presets. Gee, thanks Weber. Please fix this ASAP!
