Even Worse

ac0mputerguru

I didn't think it was possible, but the developers made the app even worse!! Now, the screen randomly glitches, crashes in the middle of battles, and freezes up randomly. The arenas are even worse than before, with either "they have ALL long distance weapons and I have ALL short attack range." Or better yet, one of my dudes gets dominated, crosses my other two players (uncloaked), to hit my cloaked dwarf. Dwarf had major upgrades, esp. in armor, was at 100%, level 10; attacker was Nayeli level 8, just beginning, with common weapon. Dwarf killed, Nayeli didn't even critical hit! Most of the time, the battles are so unbalanced either in levels (him: 12-11-9-12 / me: 10-10-8-9, for example) or just a poor match up of teams. What is wrong with matching teams, as the current method of selecting team members is for the birds... Only reason we play is the kid likes it, but even he is looking at new games in the App store.

For a DnD Game, PvP Seems to be the Cash Grab

-Naruk-

Recently there’s been an event released wherein you have to successfully win sixty rounds of PvP in order to unlock a new hero. Yes. Sixty. Not only do you have to win sixty rounds, but forty of them are locked behind a 3-strikes-you’re-out rule, which you can circumvent by either winning nonstop (impossible, the game forces you into mismatched teams and power struggles of players of up to 500 ranks higher than you), or you can pay a rising gem cost with real cash. If you’d like to play the game for its PvE elements you should! It’s nice. But PvP is not only completely imbalanced with two or three overpowered heroes, it’s also inefficient and gate keeps new content.

Completely unbalanced

dhydchjdd

It’s a fun game some of the time, yet any pvp is completely unbalanced. Very common to be stuck fighting opponents nearly double your level, almost always there is enough of a level gap of 25% making the battles pointless. The challenge mode is fun, but with major events and rewards based in the unbalanced pvp it’s just boring.

Could be great game but falls short

Jarhead312

The game is simple to play however there is a lot wrong with it. First they take control of your characters out of the players hands. You can’t name your characters. Attributes are auto by the game. When it’s your turn the game selects which of your players go first. Sometimes I would like to heal first but the game doesn’t allow it. As I said before attribute points is controlled by the game. For instance I can’t make my Rogue have a higher dexterity than strength to maybe give them an extra attack per turn. Can’t forget that as you get higher in dungeons the EXP for killing mobs and monsters is almost the same as when I was level 1! At level 6-7 killing mobs is only getting me 10-12 exp. FYI you need 4500 exp to level up at 6-7. So it forces you to spend gold on leveling up gear that you don’t need so you get exp! Instead of allowing you to sell that gear you can’t, the game selects what you can sell as well. Then if your not careful it can put gear you have equipped in a sell slot. Do not spent money on the VIP pass I did for 1 month to see what I get. You get some gold on when you finish a dungeon. I think I might have received a few pieces of rare gear which you can also get from drops. Not worth it. The developers need to really work on this. Takeaways: - Give players the power to change character attributes even give the option to name your characters or keep the game name to personalize the characters. - Give more exp and VIP members get additional bonus exp. - Create a merchant that you can sell your gear to make gold to upgrade your Equipped gear not upgrade level or lower level common gear you will never use. - Create a map of the area with few dungeons at each level to work towards the next. Right now there one path and once you finish one your characters still might not be ready to move on. Your forced into a limbo of trying to do boring level 1 challenges or Battles against other characters.

Bait and switch pay to win

NiceMomPants

Once your character’s get between 4-5 levels, it’s completely impossible to advance without paying. Loving D&D and enjoying the gameplay, I dropped $20 to level up. The money didn’t stretch very far. The explore/campaign mode becomes very stale and slow to progress. To play challenge mode, resources which cost real money must be spent, and the rewards are incredibly slim. The battle mode where you can challenge other players is somewhat exciting, but becomes utterly frustrating with how badly balanced some of the characters are, and the rewards are also poor (the matchmaking is on point, certain characters are just ridiculously overpowered). Here’s where bad gets worse: When you open a new character, you’re stuck with it. Don’t like their tactics or play style? Tough. Then randomly awarded gear is less useful because you’re getting it for someone you don’t want to use. It gets worse still. In battle mode, you cannot choose your team. If you opened a character that you don’t want to use, your roster is randomly assigned in battle mode. You cannot start a new game to pick fresh characters because they’d rather you pay more money. This game almost had me with battle mode but not being able to choose my characters is a poor model. Wouldn’t it make more sense if I could swap characters out? I’d spend more if I could play with who I wanted. There are also some bugs with certain item’s bonuses not triggering. The game play is successfully addicting (it’s terrible how that’s become a marketable term for gaming but here we are), but the extent to which the game can be unfairly unbalanced and limiting against your favor, even when spending cold hard cash, brings the rating to a definite 1 star. Side note: I have never 1-starred anything in my life. Generally I only speak up when things are recommendable. Sooo, I guess that’s an achievement in itself?

Strategy

Maddog_1971

It’s all about the strategy and that is what makes this D&D game fun and entertaining. Put your mind and brawn to the the test and come join us.

Love this game

shaman2216

It’s a grind just like any other game. People are going to be better than you. I really enjoy this game regardless. Narrator makes it seem like you’re actually playing with a dm as well.

Tapjoy is a scam

tapjoyNO

Don't do any of the purchases for gems. The company Tapjoy is a giant scam. You will not get what is promised.

Pay to play

Shad369

There’s not enough gold in the game. You need gold to do anything, including level up, so I’m stuck. I can’t move forward in the campaign because I can’t level up and you can’t go back to play old levels. You can’t choose the players you fight in battle with. The game is frustrating

Deceptive Practices

Fallow74

Most games are pay2play nowadays, so this should be any surprise with Waterdeep. The surprise is that you begin playing and are duped into sinking a ton of hours into the game only for the developers to reveal that you’re going to need to spend a bunch of money if you want to keep advancing. I’d recommend everyone return and adjust your scores.
