I understand that the developer needs to make money. But to be at all successful in this game, you need “waypoint” cards and a couple sails beyond the basic, free sails. However the cost of those additional items is prohibitive (dollars, not cents). Also, when you get points allowing you to upgrade sails, they don’t carry over to other races once you are done. So you are always starting over. Even a race I sail well, I am in the back half of the pack because of the people that pay $20+ for all of the goodies. I enjoyed it for a couple months, but I’m deleting it.

Why would you require an update before the very last leg of the race? I can’t update my app! Not good planning on your part... probably didn’t lose much, but still money you would have made.

Sometimes the maps are not the same and can give the false sense of navigating over water when you are running aground Everything else is great

I have enjoyed the thought process and strategies involved in participating. I like that you can compare yourself to the Volvo Boats, your own club racers, city, state, nation and world. I like showing friends the 3D pics of the boat in action. My class thought I was navigating a real boat in the night view when down under. The algorithms need a little work. I have seen some boats sail right over islands with no repercussions while I have been set back on shore after clearing islands costing me 2000 places at times. I realize it is all just fun but when you invest some time into your race it is a bummer to be screwed up by a computer glitch. Still fun to play and it is such a metaphor for life in so many ways.

Haven sailed just a few times. I thought this would be a way to learn more from the game and others. The game also works on ones patients, as it’s like the real thing. I like the game because your not so much involved, unlike other games...

Part of the simulation includes a price to be competitive — just like real yacht racing. You must pay for certain features to stand a chance for success. If you can afford it, you’ll like the game. Likewise, if you don’t care about winning, playing the “base model” game can also be enjoyable. Not wanting to pay, but wanting to win? Move along for your own good.

Help. iPhone X. iOS 11.3 update. Now the app fails to launch. I tried restarting my device. Deleted and reinstalled. I can get the log in screen to load and take my login credentials. But fails to load/launch the UI to select races.

I have raced in the Volvo game from the very first one.. This new version is by far my least favorite... it cost way more the any other in the past it was 25 euros for the whole race ...now it’s 14$ a leg .. 10 legs.. do the math.. Also it is the least social.. wind charts are not what they should be and in order to do well you must have a router program to aid you Not a good version
