Please improve

App really needs some enhancements to improve the user experience. As others have noted 2FA is a constant hassle, connecting to cameras is very slow even on 1gb local network and notifications sporadically work. One other issue is the blinding white when this app loads and your in a dark environment, before cameras connect the entire screen is a bright white that cannot be adjusted to a dark mode like other applications have figured out. Please add a dark mode to not blind your users!

Decent can be finicky

No app dark mode and sometimes it I have slow connection though I am standing the AP in ceiling in my house fast access. Overall app is improving.

Garbage still… years later

They apparently don’t read reviews or just straight up don’t care. Unusable without a cloud account and with VLANs. I give up, BlueIris will replace this. Wish I had done it sooner.

Awesome

This app is awesome. and it keeps getting better.

Nice app but would enjoy a couple more features

I had trouble at first receiving motion notifications for my G3 Instant camera. I stopped the UniFi Protect app on my UDM-Pro, installed a HDD and restarted my UDM-Pro and finally readopted the G3 Instant camera. Not sure what specifically fixed the notification problem but it now works. Otherwise this is a solid and reliable app after a couple days of use. I’d love to see the ability to pause motion notifications temporarily and dark mode in the app UI. After that, I’ll have everything I need!

Another update, another failure.

We Have Another Update! Once again with claims to support "local access" but without delivery. It's simply ludicrous at this point that this app still doesn't have true local access. To be clear: you are unable to manually type in the network information necessary to connect to a local nvr or protect instance on another vlan. Fairly important when using vlans. It doesn't even make sense that they would leave this out anymore. I don't even care if protect is good anymore, I'm out. This lack of support for manually entering nvr info is a deal breaker. I've put their cameras in RTSP mode and am using them with other software. If this matters to you, do yourself a favor and grab yourself ds cam (synology), blue iris or anything else capable at this point. Ill continue to look for the update for a few clients who can't leave the eco system just yet. But dang it feels good to find an alternative without having to buy new cameras. Piece out Unifi.

Buggy features render app unusable at times

When hitting back or forward 10s the app will sometimes snap to nearby events. Detection events spam notifications rather than having a configurable backoff time per event/camera. Remote access is still sluggish after multiple updates attempting to resolve it. App also randomly crashes when viewing feed upon rotations as well.

Crashes a lot

Love the app. But under os 15 my iPad throws me out off the app constantly

Return your equipment for refund before its too late

The user interface looks awesome. but you dont buy security equipment for looks. you buy it for reliability. i have always had recommended unifi firmware updates along with my unifi hardware. everything is on battery backup so no excuses there either. Heres some of the problems ive seen with my equipment and customers i support. -equipment is never reliable. Ive had security events that i could not play back because of software problems for a few seconds at the time of the event. -wireless cameras that work great for about a month and then after the return period passes they start having connection issues. -notification features of the app are a joke and consistently malfunction. -useless support, you’ll spend countless hours (time you lose in addition to the money you lose buying garbage equipment) troubleshooting getting nowhere before finally being asked to factory default everything and still have problems pop up again. - problems with the mobile app on ipad and want to use the LAN based app via chrome? Nope, won’t work in chrome on ipad, must go to your desktop computer and visit chrome. - Have different networks separated by VLAN? Good luck getting any of their phone or tablet app features to work properly without ridiculous issues. It doesn’t matter what you want to do. Simple or complicated, Unifi either doesn’t do it well, or will push an update to break whatever does work. most good reviews are fake or by people who don’t rely on it....they don’t monitor enough to know they are missing footage or the camera was offline for hours, or they can’t playback the few seconds someone spent trying to pick the lock at their back door, or that remote view worked one day but on another day it doesn’t work while you can still access everything else remotely. The only thing good about their cameras is they are onvif so you can use software like xeoma, zoneminder and others to maintain secondary systems as backups to the nice looking trash you get from them in exchange for your money.
