Not appropriate for real design work

Michael Czeizperger

I’ve never seen this program do the same thing twice. It fails every time I start it in different ways, it locks up in tutorials, or half-way through a design. Basics like 3D rotation don’t work. It’s nothing like in the promo videos. But even when it works it’s obviously not targeted for serious designers and engineers: forced accounts and automatic sharing of designs, robot mode, marketing to kids, which is strange since it’s too difficult even for people working in the field, so I’d be really surprised if a casual user wanting a robot could manage to figure it out. In my opinion they threw out the book on user interface design, rewrote it, and aren't telling where they hid it. The problem with apps that claim to simplify and make the UI intuitive invariably just create a new language that's just different, but not any less complicated. I tried several of the simplest tutorials and they just didn’t work as shown in the videos, so I gave up after wasting an afternoon without even a cube to show for it. Traditional 3D tools like SolidWorks or Fusion 3D are both more intuitive and able to handle real world tasks. uMake could have an inscrutable UI or it could just be really buggy. Either way, you’re not going to be able do anything useful before it locks up. The company is pushing export to desktop programs to finish designs, but why would you start with uMake when you’re going to have to move the models to another program to get the real work done? Desktops have tablets for stylus input, so it’s not like the iPad is the only way to draw into a design program. If you’re actually looking to make robots and rocket ships Tinker Cad is really well designed, rock solid reliable, and easily exports for 3D printing. I’d love to be able to use my iPad for more than games and simple browsing, but uMake isn’t it, unfortunately.

Confusing for beginners

I’ve never worked with 3D design software. Tutorials are nice but I just want help creating something simple and getting familiar with the tools. It’s not that clear...

What the hell is this? You cant do anything with this!

Star chunk

You cant get past tutorial, you can only look at others project. Cant start new project.

I like uMake a lot but I don't like that it take a lot time for you to learn it if you ware a beginner and this is not a harped comment or region but this is my opinion that if you can change it to easy and what I like about it that it's so good for iPad and every app like this is not a good quality like that

Awesome only problem small on iPhone, if a horizontal mode would be better.

Suggestion/Glitch Report.

I tried to create a model by pressing the button to make one, but it didn’t respond. I kept trying several times. No such luck. Please fix this.
