Inconsistent

19 Jonny

Generally fun but 20 percent of the time the system goes into cheat mode and throws rational strategy out the window. When this happens I can predict all dice rolls based on what the computer needs to hit me and what I’ll roll based on what will keep me on the bar the longest. The designers swear this is not possible but after 10,000 plus games, I know when to expect this “glitch.” This used to infuriate me and I’d delete the program, but there is nothing better out there. If the system didn’t have a part time cheating problem, I would have given five stars.

Love the game, but......

The dice are always loaded in favor of the computer. It’s unbelievable how accurate I’ve become at knowing beforehand how the computer dice will roll. So frustrating to have to leave open pips on the board because the dice rolls just happen to roll up that way. But, then computer regularly rolls exactly what it needs to hit the open pip(s). Okay if it happened a few times, I might digress. But, practically every time. No way. And I hear what the developer is saying. It’s the same rhetoric each response. I get it. But don’t tell me this game replicates an actual match with real dice.

Too long to start

Takes too long to get a live opponent

Lies about it being random generated rolls

Deleted it fast

Completely untrue.

Statistically Improbable

statiscally improbable

If you play this game long enough you will be left scratching your head. The computer gets way too many perfect rolls. In addition if you are trying to get a token back onto the board..... the computer has 2 positions blocked. Odds are 1 in 3 rolls should get you back in play. I have consistently rolled 5 plus times to get back in play. Consistently. The computer rarely has this issue. As a matter of fact it rarely goes to 3 attempts for the computer to renter a token when 5 of six spots are blocked. While my descriptions are not impossible...... it is completely improbable for their consistent occupancy.

This is a GREAT GAME.

I keep coming back to modify this review because my experience with the game results in my enjoying it more and more. First, I like the interface. Not a lot of confusing options, the basics are there. The drag and drop option makes it feel like a real game, though I wish that until the dice are ‘picked up’ that the blots that a moved would be positioned in a way to make it obvious which ones were moved. There are a couple of other minor things but the developer now knows those, so no need for details. Which brings me to the fact that I bought this in large part bc of the developer comments to reviews. Especially as regards the computer ‘cheating’. Although I didn’t quite understand the developer’s explanation in written form, it is CERTAIN that the computer is not cheating by altering the rolls. In fact, the user can cheat by looking at the list and seeing the computer’s next roll. This app does NOT CHEAT. More... I consider myself more or less an advanced player and the advanced level is pretty much my speed. I bought the ‘tutor’ add-on. (Make sure you turn it on!!) There are no explanations of why the suggested moves are better, but you can see the increase/decrease in the winning odds. In addition to the tutoring add-on I bought the Ship Captain’s layout. Usually such things aren’t important to me, but I like the game a lot and the visual aspect actually made a difference in my enjoyment of the game. Bought the BGB engine. As the developer said, don’t buy this unless you can beat the initial computer. I could beat the built-in computer pretty often so... Even on the lower of the two settings it consistently crushes me. BUT I think I am learning from the Tutor/BGB combination. For about $10 I have a game that allows me to play alone at varying levels and learn while doing so. So, great work on the app, Markus!! And continue with your sincere efforts toward customer satisfaction!!

Rigged dice roll

Playing against the computer is frustrating. The computer rolls perfect rolls for itself in order to win. Conversely, it gives the player the worst roll most times. If Computer’s piece is hit, it gets in at the first roll even if four out of five positions are covered. On the other hand, if the player gets hit ( with a perfect roll), and one or two points are covered, the player will not get any favorable rolls. Computer gives itself doubles at optimal times. THE DICE ROLLS ARE RIGGED IN FAVOR OF THE COMPUTER. VERY UNFAIR.

Dice Fixed

Aitchdee1234

I have been playing on an expert level. Multiple times the computer casts three sets of doubles to win by one tile. 80% of the time the computer wins the first move. When I am on the bar the dice gives me multiple doubles of blocked spaces. The programmer is a sore looser!!!

Loaded dice

JDW57

Yeah... it’s fixed. The computer gets an AMAZING number of doubles upon reaching the final bar. I didn’t want to believe it because I paid for the game and it IS a beautiful interface. But after playing dozens of games, the “computer gets doubles at the end” phenomenon is hard to deny.

Too many doubles for computer!

Treehouse1128

Sorry, I read the pop up messages about how fair this game is and how the dice aren’t loaded. Hard to believe when computer consistently gets 3 and 4 doubles in a row, particularly when getting stones out.
