No thanks. I do not want to create an NBC profile so I can watch SNL sketches. You run ads between videos, that should be enough. Make the NBC profile optional instead of a requirement.

I like the app but now I have to create an NBC account to use it. There is no option to use the app without an account. I don’t want another account/login so I’ve uninstalled the app and I’ll just watch the videos on YouTube.

I’ve had this app for a long time and loved being able to watch skits while traveling away from home. Opened the app today only to discover you are now REQUIRED to either sign in with Facebook or create an NBC profile and allow NBC to spam you with unwanted marketing. APP DELETED! UPDATE 5/11/18. I genuinely appreciate that the developer responded to my review. That doesn’t happen often. However, needing my email address to “better power [y]our recommendation engine” is not a good reason to REQUIRE an account. Why can’t that be optional? I’d be happy to have less personalized recommendations if it meant I could use the app without logging in. I don’t want occasional emails about new content that “shouldn’t be missed”. I know when the show airs (Saturday night still right?) and when new content is in the app. Lastly, allowing someone to unsubscribe from further emails is fundamentally different than not requiring an account in the first place. Let’s be honest - you don’t make users set up an account for their benefit - it’s being done to provide better analytics and tracking capabilities to NBC.

With the latest update the app requires that you establish a user profile/account with NBC. I refuse to do that. I just want to be able to view clips from Saturday Night Live like I used to but now I can’t. Displeased with SNL’s big brother approach to sharing its content. Will likely be deleting the app now since it’s unusable to me in its current state. Update: I appreciate you’re reading and responding to my initial review; however, you’re still missing the point entirely. I never asked for and do not want your suggested viewings. I have been a fan of SNL since I was old enough to watch it. As a teen I attended several live performances at 30 Rock. In fact, before I could drive a car (and well before internet existed) I used to take a train to NYC from CT to watch archived tapes of episodes in their entirety. As I stated previously, the last iteration was better and usable. The current one requires information that I don’t want to give and for reasons that I don’t agree with so I’m no longer willing to use it.

I love the idea of this app as I am able to browse thru my favorite SNL skits. However the app rarely works. It crashes frequently, plays a different video than your selection and will sometimes will continue audio after exiting the app. If this app worked properly it would be my favorite. However since none of the bugs have been worked out I’ve been forced to watch my SNL clips on YouTube instead.

Somewhere along the way, SNL decided that getting into the data collection business rather than the entertainment business was the way to go. The most recent version of the app won’t work unless you (a) provide a ridiculous amount of information to NBC they really don’t need to sell ads; or (b) sign in with the data disaster that is Facebook. Sorry, fail. Delete. I love SNL, but this is not OK. So I’ll occasionally see an episode on TV (grandpa Simpson in his rocking chair). Digital age? Privacy and user experiences fail fail fail. So the developer asked if I’d re-review after they responded. Um, no. NBC doesn’t “need” a ridiculous amount of data to provide me with content I want to see. Pretending it does is BS in the extreme. This just in: I can search an app for great content if it has it. No, the point of all this is to create an elaborate, privacy-invading profile to micro-target stuff as an advertiser. Nothing more, nothing less. Fail, NBC. Love the show. The app? Delete.

Unbelievable how crappy this app is

There’s absolutely no rhyme or reason to when and why this app just doesn’t work. It doesn’t load the videos, it “times out”, it cuts videos short almost every tome. Don’t bother. Look stuff up on YouTube.

I have watched since the first season and this year seemed to be extra pertinent. The skits are so smart and the cast works great together. This season was really funny and the addition of Alec Baldwin Trump sketches were so good. I hate to see the season end

Too intrusive with update

This app used to be pretty good. One could watch the show with ads sprinkled in here and there. But now the app won’t let you in without a Facebook profile or an email and password. I’ll be deleting this app soon if it doesn’t change, and I’ll go back to watching the show on YouTube.

All 40+ seasons of SNL in one place. Love this app! Creating an account is free and is pretty standard for watching premium content in this day and age. Well worth it.
