Punishingly Beautiful

I embarked quickly... I died quickly... I embarked again... I died again... Hours later... Thumbs sore... Tears falling... I won... Or did I?... May the fire burn brightly for you, and may it keep you warm...

Awesome game, can't stop trying

This game, makes you think, and learn and if you don't quit ... Eventually win. I totally saw everything in my minds eye as I played. Thoroughly enjoyed every detail. The narration at end made me feel complete as game creator told of his inspiration and why what was what. Do yourself a favor and get the game. No it's not a pretty picture but it makes you think and try . Looking forward to others .

I don't get it

I downloaded this after replaying A Dark Room and remember how entertaining that one was. I keep getting accosted by a defector with 200 health at the start of the game, sometimes before I get any equipment boosts or even weapons. I can't outrun them. It's not fun. I don't understand why this game has such high reviews.

I love all these

I am such a big fan of interactive fiction / text-based games / whatever you want to call it and I love this game. The worst part is that there aren't more!!! The only problem I had was that I got a phone call in the middle of the game and when the phone call was over, I had died. That sucked. Especially since you try to get so much done before you die.

Mind Blowing

GaMeS aRe So AwEsOmE!!!!!!!

I am so touched by these games, A Dark Room and The Ensign. Both wonderful masterpieces that you can tell have hours of work put into creating. The text-based and very minimalist feel are great. After playing ADR I got The Ensign and was equally impressed. While playing you feel connected to the discoveries and mystery of the storyline, it is hard to describe. I would definitely recommend these to anyone looking for something more in a game. These games are truly amazing and have a once in a long time experience to both of them. Thanks so much to the developers for a game like this.

Incredible!

I played A Dark Room and loved it and bought this one too... Let me tell you... It requires brain power to play this game... You have to have a strategy in order to keep going and I didn't get that at first so I wasn't getting far. After playing for the 100th time I finally got the hang of it. This and A Dark Room are 2 of the best games I have ever purchased from the App Store. I also love the fact that just like reading a book, you use your imagination for the images. Get it! You won't regret it!

Actually easy

This game while incredibly fascinating didn't live up to its reputation as a difficult hair pulling game in fact it was easy glad there was the refuse fewd option to make it harder

Must play for ADR fans

I'll share my thoughts more on my website.... Loved it

This is a great game!

Just because it's different than "The Dark Room" doesn't mean it's not as good. Yes, it's very difficult and sometimes painful, but the developer didn't want a game that you could beat just like that and forget about it. I really liked the red text that tried to get under your skin. I thought it was something nice to keep you from throwing your device across the room and keep playing. Something else that I liked that helped push forward was the audio clips at the end. I really like how the developer tells you some backs story and things like that about the game.
