Pretty terrible

PhishyRich

Can get the same stories for free elsewhere...lack of F1 content was frustrating

False Advertisting

Cowbell Guy

When I signed up for The Athletic almost 4 years ago, one of their tent-pole selling points was that their content served “personalized, ad-free coverage for the teams you care about”. I was happy to fork over my own money to support high quality sports journalism, in exchange for a product that wasn’t covered in ads like much of the rest of the sports media options out there. Today, I opened a story about the upcoming Winter Classic game in Minnesota, and what do I see in the middle of the article? A banner advertisement for BETMGM encouraging me to “Bet $10, Win $200”. I’m greatly disappointed to see The Athletic start to pump out ads in their app like the kind they used to say they’d never do. It’s not the one ad in particular for why this is a one-star app, it’s the complete abandonment of one of the values the company alleges to be founded upon.

Search engine does not work

labmanok

Does not matter if there are good writers if you can’t find them. This side has the worst support of any site on the Internet. Prob as boy good if you are a hockey fan.

5-STAR

I’ve been a subscriber from very early on (maybe even day 1?) and it’s been worth every penny.

Entirely Overrated

Whispering_Eye

Disappointed doesn’t even begin to properly describe how you’ll feel using this app.

Real sports reporting

BigMike703

Actual sports writers and reporters. Vetted facts, deep story lines, excellent writing and story telling.

Thompson article

New user (not for long)

Truly inspirational. Hopefully it gets broad distribution. Shows that with hard work, dedication and humility anyone can overcome obstacles and achieve success.

It’s 1/3/22

& Maliki Smith has taken over the Flyer point.

NYT Property. AVOID

Dudley Dawson

Was a 5 -star product. Having now sold out to the NYT, they can pound sand. Within a year, this site will be nothing but ads, clickbait and bad articles from rookie writers, hired to save a buck. The Death of The Athletic has started.

Buggy App

The saved story’s section always freezes, and requires me to quit the app.
