Very disappointing on the usage with Dropbox

囧囧有神鬼难测

As title mentioned, the connection to Dropbox is extremely difficult to use. You cannot access and edit all your files, instead, you can only work in a specific folder for this App only. And the import function is only for a single Dropbox file. Come on, when you write latex, you are expecting only one file? There is Tex, pdf, bbl, bib and many more.

Wonderful app

This is the best way to write LaTeX on the iPad or iPhone. Well thought out app. You can tell developers care. Equally happy with the OSX app. Works well with the iOS Files app. Which means git integration via WorkingCopy App for you TeX Files. Keep up the good work.

It does not seem to be able to import documents already existing on Dropbox

I tried to use the app to edit latex documents I had in Dropbox, but there was no way to do so. I ended up uninstalling it.

Drive integration would make 5 stars!

This is an awesome app for using LaTeX — easily the best I’ve found and trust me when I say I’ve tried them all. The only thing its lacking is a google drive integration. While Dropbox is great and what I’ve been using, so many of my collaborators are on google that it’s frustrating to have to use 3rd party apps to sync everything appropriately. I look forward to an update with this in mind!! Otherwise the interface is a joy to work on, and the live pdf generation makes it so easy to see what you’re doing. This app has made it possible for me to ditch my heavy laptop for work and use my iPad exclusively, which I LOVE! Super easy environment to type in and while the shortcuts they’ve integrated do take some time to get used to, once you do they are truly a serious time saver. I also love that you can download just the packages you need for your docs, and don’t have to take up a ton of space on your device with unneeded packaging. Finally, I do like the file organization built into the app. Makes it easy to add figures, bibtex, etc and keep everything organized the way I would on my computer. Just wish it had that drive connection....

Some bugs

I’ll most likely update to 5 stars when fixed, but for now I’m rating 3. One really important feature for workflows on iOS was addressed in the most recent update. It works a lot better with iCloud, but it’s rather buggy. I can’t link a whole folder from apps that use iCloud, most prominently working copy app. When I select the folder in the document picker inside of working copy, I get no error message, and the folder is simply not linked. The most recent update revived this app for me to use it at all, I think this fix would be great and I’ll happily rate 5 stars if fixed.

Great product, but new update is buggy.

I really appreciate having a powerful LaTeX editor on my iPad, and this app really does the job well. The most recent update is quite buggy, though, and I’d love to see a fix sometime soon. Main problem is, while editing a file, I am unable to scroll to the top of the file and make edits. Also, while scrolling in either the source code on the left side of the editor view or in the document viewer on the right side, the scrolling in the other pane gets quite jumpy and jittery - this hasn’t been an issue in the past.

Great way to write LaTeX, but poor Dropbox integration

PalmIPhoneConvert

This app makes writing LaTeX on iPad a breeze. The killer feature is live update. As you write an equation (and other LaTeX) you can see it typeset in real time in the pdf file. This makes writing LaTeX much more intuitive and interactive. On an 9.7” iPad the display is a little too small to take full advantage of it, but on the 12.9” and 11” Pro this should be really great. BUT, as many reviewers has remarked, the Dropbox integration is poor (and I did not realize this before buying). You can only access one specific app folder. This is very much out of date. I have hundreds of projects that include LaTeX. I don’t want to have to move them all into the app folder — also because the contain many other documents (graphics, excel files etc.). The recent update made it possible to link folders in iCloud, but not Dropbox. If the app had full Dropbox integration, I would definitely give it 5 stars. UPDATE: I got a reply from the developer. It seems the Dropbox issue is out of their hands. Hopefully it will come with new versions of iOS. So, I updated to 5 stars.

Many bugs

Gatorba

This is the most expensive iOS app I own. Unfortunately I cannot recommend it. Too many bugs. iCloud link breaks all the time, cannot work on my file on the plane without wi-if. And I have to constantly re-link it to work. UI is great in theory but it has many minor bugs that need attention. Wait for the app to be further developed and debugged before you spend your hard earned money on this one. Also: don’t buy an iPad Pro for latex it can’t replace your laptop yet!

(New Title) Fanastic app, but could use a good tutorial

Heavisise

It seems to be a nice implementation of LaTeX, but there is no tutorial on how to use it. For example, I have not yet figured out how to import graphics. I contacted the developer, but got only a light nonsequituur in response. Since I explained my problem, I have received no response. I am adding this later note. In spite of the nonresponsiveness of the developer, I have really worked to learn how to use this app, and it has quite a few. nice featueres; therefore, I have upgraded my ratinbg to five stars. I have used Texwriter since it was introduced, and it was a fine app. The developer was very responsive to suggestions. However, the latest update is a radical failure, and the developer does not react well to suggestions. Therefore, I have switched to Texpad, and I am finding that it has many more nice features than does Texwiter. If the developer of Texpad would write a small tutorial (perhaps pdf) on how to use his app, it would be a tremendous asset. As of now, I have to experiment to determine how to do things like import graphics. There is a fairly cursory tutorial on the web site, but it doesn't explain things in much detail. There are a lot of very nice features in this app, and I hope the developer will continue to develop and support it. All in all, a very nice app. P.S. (Added later) Unfortunately, it is very erratic in behavior when editing a previously written file. It jumps around in an erragtic manner. Sometimes I can't see the beginning of the file. At other times, when I try to scroll down to the end of a file it will simply return to the beginning of the file without scrolling down. This is a potentially great app, but apparently the author is not maintaining it or improving it. Sad!

Autocorrect not working, no TeXPad keyboard

What’s up with that?
