Changing my perspective on meditation and bringing more enlightenment

Samuel_johns

As a beginner to meditation, the course content describes various aspects and values of meditation coupled with the daily meditation was extremely helpful. The content is easy to digest and delivered in a very empathetic way, a very good introduction for any of you who are skeptical about mediation. I really enjoyed hearing Dan’s personal stories of struggle, making me realize we’re not alone when it comes to having the little voice in our heads. The pairing with deep knowledge of meditation practices and enlightenment from Joseph Goldstein who is a world renowned teacher of meditation was phenomenal. Also very impressed with the quality of the course and my interactions with my personal coach Derek through out the course. I’m looking forward to exploring more mediations practices after taking this course. Highly recommend exploring meditation with 10% happier!

Great meditation app

I found this app after hearing it mentioned on a Sam Harris podcast, and also heard Joseph Goldstein was involved. Goldstein is so wise, and I've learned so much from his various dharma talks and guided meditations that I had to subscribe. I've also read Harris' book and thoroughly enjoyed that as well. With both of these great minds contributing this makes for a great app that I now use every day. Great find!!

No longer a skeptic, thanks to this App

After hearing anecdotal examples of how meditation improved lives and hearing of neuroscience research proving that meditation can physically alter your brain and make you happier, I've decided to try it for myself. This app turned out to be the perfect place to start and now I'm continuing to learn more and more using 10% Happier courses. The courses are structured very thoughtfully and there are new ones being added all the time. I've read about the teachers in this App and they are really some of the most globally renowned experts. Dan Harris is also really good (that's been his job as a newsman his whole life) at interviewing the instructors and asking questions that map really well to my own stumbling blocks with meditation. Really excited to get to the "Effective Communication" course with Oren Sofer, which is up next for me.

For the cost of a lunch at Panera

MeditationMomma

I was first introduced to meditation about 5 years ago, but never practiced consistently. I'm a mom, and I don't have time or money to go to fancy retreats or classes. This isn't just an app, it's more of a course. And I am so grateful for the coaching that helped answer my questions without Dr. Google. For the cost of a lunch at Panera, I get guided meditations from Joseph Goldstein. Yes please.

Development team and coaching are stellar!

The team at 10% Happier is amazing! I’ve been using this app since it was first released. The team is extremely helpful and they are very open to feedback. They’ve already improved the app by leaps and bounds, and I expect only good things to come!

Outstanding app with excellent content

Definitelyhappiernow

This program helped me try and then appreciate the practice of meditation. After the first program, I actually feel more in control of my thoughts. The seamless app, the intelligent content, the personal coach and the fact that it only takes 15 minutes per day all combine for my 5 star rating.

Review, and know you're reviewing

One of the most interesting side effects of 10% Happier is that as tripwire to get me off auto-pilot, I hear Joseph's voice in my head, "sit, and know you're sitting," "drive, and know you're driving," "meet, and know you're meeting." As a result I have definitely been more focused and productive at work. It has also enabled me to suss out subtle, but amazing insights from coworkers. I have already had one amazingly helpful incident of Respond, Not React at work. I have a particularly troublesome relationship with a coworker, and during an especially heated exchange was able to mentally create enough space for me to avoid saying or doing something rash, which, given our history, I was sure to do. An unexpected side effect has been a noted increase in sympathetic joy and sympathetic grief. I wasn't heartless before, but I also wasn't overcome when a formerly mentored coworker is now excelling on her own, or when a friend's daughter experienced racism for the first time. I really like the new Basic Meditations from the May update. I can select a shorter session for the time between arriving at work and entering, but choose a longer one for home practice.
