i bought this game because i own a Logitech powershell, but the controls are horrible. the spaceship can't move half as fast with the controller as by touchscreen, and gaming with touchscreen is no fun for me. not recommended with powershell

Best childhood game ever

I am so glad that R-Type finally made it to the iPad. This was my favorite game of all when growing up and have been trying to find it for the newer system. My wait is done and I am overjoyed. I feel like a child opening presents on Christmas Day.
Best shooter ever. Period.

Want to make it better? Only improve response time when using virtual controller (there's 1/4 second lag which means death for this game). Other than that, my favorite childhood shooter is still king.

This game is outstanding. It manages to reconcile the space-time continuum. Meaning, while playing on an Apple product, I am transported back in time a quarter century (see title and nickname above). Only bit of constructive criticism (via my friend James) - the app designers should enable users to play the game on mute with music otherwise (Spotify et al) with the next update.
