What can I say? My favorite arcade is now on my iPad and it is glorious in it's authenticity. Still as frustratingly difficult as it's ever been and I can't keep the smile off my face. Thanks DotEmu.

There are games in every console that define the generation. R-Type is one of those games. While I play I cannot help but think of the hours my girlfriend and I would spend pouring into this game, just to 1-Up the other. When it comes to side scroller shooters, R-Type is, and always will be, the king.

I wish I could switch the buttons to the left side of the screen so I could use the right for movement and remove my thumb from near or on the ship to see projectiles better.

This game captures the fun and excitement of running home and playing the game on my home system after middle school.
Virtual Controls Disappear

When attempting to resize the virtual controls with the slider the controls disappear entirely. The default size of the controls are too large to use well. R-Type II does not have this problem. I am attempting to play this on an iPad Mini with Retina Display.
It's a retro blast!
