One Job To Do...

Samuel L. Fishburn

I don't have or use additional recording hardware on my iPhone 5s. If you you are only recording a few minutes on each file, the app works fine. It is a little bit annoying that you need to export the recording into another format to transfer. My main issue is that the app is unable to export a 1.5 hour lecture, every time I try to access it or export the app crashes. I think the only way I can do this is to transfer in realtime via audio cable which is less than ideal. Not the type of quality you would expect from a professional audio company.

Not so great

Awtnight

I tried this, because i thought it claimed to be able to play through the speaker the audio input from the headphone jack. I then hoped to send the audio to a bluetooth device. All I could get the app to do was record sound coming through the built-in microphone, even when I configured for play through. Also it records in mono. It mainly wants you to upgrade.

Not even a speck of usefulness here - most of what you see: UPGRADE Not even for five cents would I buy this app

Won't recognize Rode Smart lav

This app needs serious work. It doesn't even recognize the Rode Smart lav. I use an Iphone 5 with ios 7. Works fine with Apple's native sound recorder. But not Rode's own app. Fix this please.

unreliable

I bought the Rode lavalier mic and downloaded Rode Rec LE to record lectures I give at a small public university. I’m using an iPhone 4S with the most current iOS. The app and the mic worked fine, at first. Then a couple of times I noticed that I only captured 20-40 seconds of my lecture. I tested it… hitting “record” and watching and sure enough after 5-10 seconds it just stopped. I contacted support who asked me many questions but could only offer that I try removing and reinstalling the app. This is really quite unacceptable because I bought the mic and app to work as a package. If the app stops recording (randomly) it’s useless because reliability is essential. I don’t get a 2nd chance to record a live lecture.

Hobbled By Greed

I downloaded this app, played around with it and deleted it. Kind of a cool app, but if you're going to offer an LE version, offer an LE version with an in-app option to upgrade. Don't PESTER users to buy the upgrade at every turn. I might have upgraded. Instead, I deleted. I'm giving this one an A for annoying.

Terrible App! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY until Rode fixes this app

Don't get me wrong, I usually like rode. As a matter of fact I own a Rode shotgun mic, but the whole purpose of this app is to work with the Ride Mic Lav. The problem is that the App does not recognize the Mic Lav. The app is very limited and for this reason I recommend that NO ONE purchase this app until Rode makes a decent app.

Practically abandoned by devs

Support for iOS 7 is listed as "what's new" in an update that comes out mid-June 2014...after iOS 7 has been out almost a year, after iOS 8 has been announced. And it doesn't even use iOS 7 UI (or if it does they were too lazy to update screenshots).

Won't recognize smart lav

Rode Rec app doesn't recognize the smart lav on my iPhone 5c. Had no problems with my older iPhone 4. Please fix.

It's getting there

I just recently got the Røde smartlav+ and it works great with the app on my iPad mini and iPhone 4. I've only noticed that they updated most of the visual aspects of the app (buttons, faders, etc.) but it appears as though they haven't finished. On the iPhone version the speaker volume slider is the new iOS 7 version whereas the mic input volume slider is still the old slider. It'd be nice to have the record and stop buttons updated as well. Overall, very nice and functional but needs a little improvement.
