This beats the “free” vpns on the app market, its fast reliable and no ads, and most importantly its secure and works as described. I also use their email and its great. Encrypted everything. Great job guys this way better than any tor or vpn service out there that i tired this is comparable if not better than PIA

Unreliable, IP leaks

Constantly disconnects on the iOS version. If my phone hasn’t been used in a few min I’ll unlock it and find vpn isn’t connected. Then I have to either open the app or go to phone settings to open again. They claim always on is not available in iOS. Works fine on Android though. I can’t suggest this VPN for the fact that it’s going to create IP address leaks due to it constantly disconnecting after inactive periods of using your phone. The whole point of having vpn is that your connection is always on and being protected. Again these issues don’t happen on Android as you can enable kill switch and block all internet traffic if it drops connection. With iOS they state it’s unavailable despite having the kill switch button in the iOS app. Tired of manually having to go check if VPN is active. Using it on an iPhone 6 Plus the connection usually stays active. Using it on my new 11 pro max the connection constantly falls off after not using the phone for a while. Poor quality development. Cancelling sub and looking for something else that will at least alert me when it’s disconnected. This vpn doesn’t even do that. To make matters more insulting, they advertise the kill switch feature right here on iOS App Store when you look at their advertised pictures of the app but when you open the app and go to the kill switch function it ends up being grayed out and says unavailable for iOS. I see multiple other reviews here mentioning phone being asleep for a while and they go to use it again and find ProtonVPN is leaking traffic due to becoming disconnected. Again very poor quality development for iOS compared to Android.

Want to like it but can’t!

Indifference

I love ProtonVPN and the prior usage of ProtonMail, though anything connecting to Apple via signing into accounts, playing games that require login(s), downloading applications that requires you to put in your Apple account password—fails to connect, quite all the time. I have to turn my VPN off every time, which is tedious albeit superfluous in being secure. My WiFi is nominal (I checked numerous of times), so I don’t think it has to do with my end, but I hope this can get fixed so I can enjoy streaming, playing games, or signing into accounts on a secure connection. Update: I don’t use any fingerprint encryption, due to my phone being an iPhone XS, thus not supported. I still have the problems initially stated, but I’ve noticed my connection to secure networks, i.e. logging into my Apple account, becomes slowed or does not want to connect at all while using the Secure Core. Also, while using Secure Core, joining a public Minecraft server kicks me out of the server automatically and tells me that I’m using a “banned IP address”, though I thought ProtonVPN camouflages my connection automatically so that it shows that I am not using a VPN to unblock nuicances as such? And it won’t let me watch Netflix through the Secure Core option, as well saying that it see’s that I’m connected through a proxy. I mostly ever use the Swiss connection, not Icelandic one too. Suggestions: I pay a lot of money for this VPN to support the Proton team, but these are some of things I’d like to see in this product that I have seen in other VPN’s (Larva VPN, SurfEasy VPN, etc.). Implement a camouflage, if it isn’t already implemented, so I’m not penalised e.g. throttling and slowing down my VPN connection. Implement an adblock, tracker blocker, malicious site blocker, etc. More versatile to being able to see / log DNS requests, and able to choose or switch between smartDNS’.

Much slower than other VPN services

Gamer2938292819829182929229

This VPN Service always takes a long time to connect regardless of what network it’s trying to connect to, even without secure core, while other VPN services connect a lot faster.

Great VPN

One of the best free vpns I’ve used. It doesn’t have logs, bo intrusive ads and can connect as long as you want. Some times it won’t connect and has issues, but the pros far outweigh the cons
