No connection!

Bad!

Great Service

I pay for ProtonMail and ProtonVPN and have access to the premium servers and really appreciate what ProtonVPN provides its users. The macOS and iOS apps are both pretty decent. Customer service is top tier. I enjoy the reliable and comparatively fast connections. I know who runs the service and trust their privacy and no-logging policies unlike other VPN providers from Eastern Europe and who knows where else. There are a solid number of servers across a good chunk of countries. Connecting using Secure Core from the US to Iceland and Switzerland provides a relatively quick connection. I do wish their servers in my area were a bit quicker when I want to connect locally while at work and such. (When this service first started as a beta that I tested for them, they contracted with a much better provider with seemingly better throughout and speed and I miss it.) That is my only real complaint but I am still very happy with the service. I switched from NordVPN as soon as ProtonVPN left beta. ProtonVPN is what I plan to stick with for as long as it’s around. Finally, thank you for the quick connect widget!

Not Your Standard Review

My factors for evaluating any app are: most recent reviews; app history with ongoing updates; steady stream of developer responses to reviews. There’s a learning curve to Proton products but they’re worth it. I give Proton 4 stars and the developers 5 stars for their ongoing effort/commitment. ... I feel like a deserve to paid for this lol

won’t connect

Le-Frenchie

The reviews both on the App Store and online were promising, but minutes after installing this app on my iPad Pro, I couldn’t access the wifi anymore. It worked just fine before; after erasing it from the device, my connection was back to normal within seconds. Disappointing.

I researched many and this is the BEST

ERRGH!!

Didn’t work for me... though I was able to successfully sign-in to WiFi network, I still couldn’t use the internet as if I never signed in. Once I uninstalled the app, I was able to successfully ‘access’ the internet .

"Always On" setting is just a dummy switch.

I have loved Proton VPN for a long time, and have used it both on my Windows PCs and my Androids. I was ecstatic when I conducted a routine search in the App Store for ProtonVPN and saw that it had finally arrived. Unfortunately, even with the paid version, the "Always On" setting isn't always on; I'm constantly getting booted and/or losing my connection. Even worse is that the "VPN" icon in the status bar stays on even indicating I'm connected even when I'm not. That's a really shady move on behalf of ios. Also, there is a note next to the Always On setting that says ios doesn't support a kill switch which is entirely untrue - until ProtonVPN became available, every ios compatible VPN I used came with a kill switch. I think ios not supporting ProtonVPNs kill switch is closer to the truth. I still like ProtonVPN for the intuitive interface and abundant selection of servers, and the lack of a kill switch and losing connection likely isn't their fault. It seems to me that if Apple holds privacy in such high esteem, dummy icons, dummy switches, lost connections and failure to support a kill switch would be promptly addressed.

I’ve been using it for 3 months now and it’s been workin flawlessly. I use it on my phone and my laptop simultaneously. IT IS FREE and yet it’s as fast and secure as other paid vpns. Thank you guys so much.

Best and most secure for privacy

ProtonVPN is developed in Switzerland by scientists from CERN - their primary interest is to offer privacy and security. I’ve tried numerous paid and free VPN services and ProtonVPN is one of the best. They offer both free and paid options, plus they also offer TOR-based VPN services as well. And if you get ProtonMail with ProtonVPN you can be reassured your privacy and security will be state-of-the-art!
