What’s the point?

When we were told about this app by the Best Buy salesperson we were really excited. Being able to control things via app is the standard these days. Unfortunately we have had nothing but problems. It’s always a crap shoot whether it will work or not. The concept is great, but the execution is severely lacking. So many times we try to use it the app gets stuck on “connecting” or “playback error”, rendering the app useless. For such a reputable name, Pioneer seems to have put very minimal effort into this app and we are extremely disappointed. On top of that, Best Buy has been nearly impossible to reach for support. Potential buyers beware!!
Old iControlAV5 was far superior

Limited capabilities. The icontrolav5 was a superior app by far it’s a shame that pioneer has chosen to take a step back in functionality versus what they had in the market previously. App is basic at best. Controls to the device are no longer consolidated into a single easy to use screen. App is cumbersome, difficult to use, non-intuitive Noor is the user experience very well designed

Could be more intuitive in terms of menus and settings. I love being able to control the receiver from my phone. Bad: app will not turn on my receiver. It has to be on to work - yes, I have network standby on. Other non-pioneer apps will turn it on, so it must be a pioneer app issue.
