I had no idea this app existed until today, I’ve been looking for the same remote that came with my receiver for weeks and found nothing. Downloaded this app FOR FREE! And it immediately connected and works seamlessly. Very impressed.

App worked seamlessly until update. Now I can’t get Spotify to connect to the receiver. Sometimes I get the receiver to play Spotify delayed while it plays on my phone... no idea how that disaster happens. Very disappointed as it makes this receiver useless for music now.

Doing searches are a little cumbersome and there some things that could be improved but my evaluation on the app is it does what i need it to do. All i do is open the app to turn on the receiver and pick Pandora and Tidal to stream and it does that perfectly. Another thing I don’t like is on Tidal when i add tracks it keeps them in order from date, but in the pioneer remote app it automatically sorts it by alphabetical order which completely messes up the order i like to listen to my tracks but besides that and the search it does what i need it to good enough to get 5 stars but that’s because im a nice person :-)

Awfull app for 2020 digital streaming music expierence. TIDAL expierence very poor - no Queye support for Tidal. UI from year 1999. For N-70AE streamer wich costs about 1K - app from previous century !!!

Major annoyance for me is that the Amazon Music function will only display the first 100 entries in any list - albums, artist, songs. Useless for browsing through your music to see what you might want to hear. This goes back to when I bought my SX-30DAB, a couple years ago. Fix it! Also, it doesn’t respond to my iPad’s volume buttons under iOS 13.3.1. I have to adjust the volume in the app using the apps slider. Other Pioneer apps, e.g. MusicControl respond to the iPad’s volume controls. This is new either from an app upgrade or my upgrade of iOS. Grrrr. Otherwise, when it works it’s fine, but it is very flaky. It might be the receiver, but every week or two they box and the app stop communicating and I end up having to do a power down reset of the receiver to re-establish a connection. Finally, why am I having to report this through an online review? Where is the customer support?

Noticed a rather troubling security issue after thumbing around the pioneer remote app’s settings. There’s a section for custom backgrounds that allows you to use your camera or photo library. As per third party app requests, permission must be granted before they can access any part of your phone. This app however does not ask for permission to use your photo library, yet it has FULL Access to it! Go to iOS’s settings app / privacy section and the pioneer app doesn’t even show up under the iOS photos app. It does ask for permission to use the camera however. Very odd, shady as hell, but not surprising! Makes me wonder what other apps have back door access to personal stuff without our knowledge. The pioneer remote app works fine otherwise. Will delete on that one privacy issue though. And send a scathing bug report to Apple, which they more than likely won’t care to do anything about. ?

App on my iPhone was great for 6 weeks. Now it simply won’t connect. I have deleted the app and will move forward knowing Pioneer has a lot of work to do. Sad to spend this much money on a Pioneer receiver and the app is a joke.
