This gentle app gives you a manageable set of tasks to do each day. It provides the tools to assess your progress, breathing and coping techniques, and exercises. There have been occasions where I was overwhelmed by the prospect of all my PT exercises and chose to do the PeerWell activities instead. Surprisingly enough, after doing those daily activities I was feeling capable of doing the exercises I had been procrastinating. I definitely recommend this app.
The info imparted regarding nutrition, Living Wills and more has been of help in my pre-OP prep I have been doing all of the recommended exercises twice daily and feel that my leg strength and mobility has improved I don’t relate well to the meditation exercises. I am not feeling fear or anxiety about the upcoming surgery. However I do enjoy the breathing exercises during meditation A breathing exercise on how to breathe thru the pain would be welcome
I started following the Peer Well app daily for about one month before my hip replacement surgery. It was very helpful to receive information about what to expect before the surgery, and which pre-hab exercises to do. It was also extremely beneficial to follow the daily meditation. I was amazed at how calm I was leading right up to the surgery, and attribute this to the daily meditation. I highly recommend this app.
The app doesn’t show all the exercises in one go. In fact every day a few exercises come up. It is frustrating as I don’t even know how many days are there in the routine. The information till day 3 is very limited. Spent usd 100 and thought all the information will be readily available. I feel like cheated by the prehab guys.
Each day I check for my PeerWell things to do with eagerness. My surgery is scheduled for the 5th of December and I have done my prehab for the past 17 days. By watching and doing the video exercises, I am walking better on my surgical knee. The meditations are great, especially the one on pain and anxiety. I feel this is an awesome program and look forward to what is expected of me every day.
Why not give this a try?? Why? Because if your focus is on getting back to your life without a hitch THIS IS YOUR ANSWER! When each day’s session arrives in your inbox, DO IT! Every single day there is more to learn in an easy to understand format. Hate using your cell phone because the letters are too small? NO WORRIES as we can do this on our computer or laptop. My intentions were to do this surgery without complications, I knew I had to trust the pros and PeerWell stepped right up! Do those relaxation techniques! I woke up from surgery calm and collected having used the relaxation tools right before going in. You’re going to love this! Now I’m ready to start playing again!!
Daily reminders but not over done. Easy to follow, useful info. Simple videos to follow. Really like this approach to prehab.
PeerWell provides a lot of great information both pre- and post-surgery. It is critical to start with the strengthening and circulation exercises as far before your surgery as possible. This will help get a jump-start on the post-surgery process. Be diligent, review the materials every day, pay attention the diet info and stay on top of the exercises. They are just the start. Move as much as possible as soon as you are comfortable doing so. Motion is lotion. Don’t be afraid of all of the pain, just don’t over do it. Good luck with your surgery and recovery.
