Great Content, VERY Disappointing App

Rather than reiterating what others have written, I suggest you read MrM3000’s review. He/she nails it.

The good the bad the ugly

First off I just want to say that PBS is absolutely amazing. I donate to them every month. With that said this app has some problems I’d like to see addressed. -no stretch to fit for iPhone X -no resume from previous spot (resets to beginning every time) But my biggest gripe is that my passport content is not shown in the “TV” app built into iOS which I use to keep track of what I’ve watched. Only free content is listed.

Why does it not let you save your spot if you don’t finish watching an episode?

I paid to get the passport, but I am underwhelmed by the app itself. I have nearly 20 streaming apps on my phone/ipad and PBS is the only one that doesn't keep track of progress on a show. So if I stop watching Season 2, Ep 2 of Victoria.... when I return to the app, I have to start over or figure out where I left off. This should be a given feature this day and age....and not only should it recall where one left off, it should be synced with the ipad as all other streaming apps do. Once I catch up with Victoria, I will probably cancel because I don't have the time to fast forward, rewind to find my place every time I want to watch something.

Uncontrollable App

Love PBS, not the app

Before some of the recent "fixes" this app worked better on my iPad. The pause and play buttons were large enough to use, now I need a stylus. If I watch part of a long program, such as the Presidents series on American Experience, I cannot return to it easily from the recently watched list. I have to search under Programs and then skim the show from the beginning to find my place. Otherwise I have to be sure it goes into my Watch list. That list cannot be updated to clear out watched programs. I have been a member of PBS for radio and TV for years. Please fix this and offer a greater number of your programs through the app. Thank you,

IntroCommercial Has Ruined This App

I used to love this app. It was perfect. Now every time I want to watch a program, it gets stuck and I have to delete the app and reload it, and advance the program before it even starts to get it to work properly. I suspect it is the opening PBS ad that causes this, UGH! I am still watching, but it’s a pain and inconvenient. Please fix this.

Poor, poor functionality

ameriklyn77

We all love PBS and their programing. Sadly, this app does not do it justice. Playback controls are horrible (repeated efforts to get pause to work) and it never remembers where you left off on a show. Aren't these like basic features of any video content app?

Worst & most inconsistent App for chrome cast very disappointing

joshuac37

I love watching NOVA documentaries but the sound is barely audible and the closed caption is off center. You can only read the end of the sentence. I literally have the volume to the max at 100 and it’s as though it’s at 10. It’s extremely frustrating. When I use other apps(like Netflix) on Chromecast, it works fine. Please fix this.

Chromecast works ok

Chromecast stutters some during playback

Near Worthless

As good as the PBS content is, this app is equally bad. About the only benefit is the very occasional update of new shows, which won’t properly stream (if at all) in the app, but which can be googled and often streamed via browser. The favorites function never saves properly. And when I am able to get a show to properly stream it’s after several starts and restarts of the app and quite a bit of elbow grease and luck. Wish I could dedicate my annual contribution to some competence tech staff!
