App keeps crashing on my phone

CaptainAmerciaFangirl

The app keeps crashing on my phone. It won’t play videos at all. Also, if you cast any videos to a blu ray player or DVD player, the app freezes up if you try to use your phone for any other purpose. You basically can’t touch your phone while casting to a player or the app stops working. If you’re looking to use PBS, I’d suggest not using the phone app until issues are resolved. Very disappointed.

Watch history stopped functioning

Amdelia50

My watched history is no longer updating on iOS devices...please fix...

No resume option?

BobbyZSD

Unless I’m missing it, you need to add an option to have the show pick up where you left off. It only remembers if you don’t leave the app open. Please fix this!

Locked Content

MaybeMilo

The app itself is basically functional, though as others have written it fails to maintain your location if you have to close out mid-viewing. My biggest issue is that a majority of the content — especially the “premium” offerings — is locked pending a minimum $60 annual donation. I already pay for access via my cable service providers do am not interested in paying that much more, but the add’l fee may be worth it to others. If so, the app is adequate for a pleasureable viewing experience, and PBS’ content is generally top-notch.

Wow. Great Programming deserves competent mobile tech

ATBOO

Somebody please divert some of the federal funding that goes to PBS and allocate to creating an app that isn’t full of bugs. Ads in the programming? Ok, fine. At least get them to play as opposed to pausing after 2 seconds and then runtiming on pause. Using this app is like attending a symphony that you eventually realize is solely performed on a Yamaha keyboard...

Donation on $60

Hopeskylerr67

I was trying to watch Victoria but it asked me to make a donation of $60 for the year. There is an option of paying $5 a month but you have to keep paying each month until it reaches $60. I’d rather wait for Victoria to be available on amazon prime video than this. I’ve never seen an app make it mandatory for you to donate a specific amount of money; especially whenever I donate to other places.

Good at Video crashes

Either the commercial crashes or the show crashes

PBS is Great, the app is not

mommacella

The app is filled with bugs, as of now I can’t watch a show, it gets stuck loading an ad and just blacks out. When it is working it will not remember where you left off, you have to search for your location every time - and this just gives the app more reason to freak out and freeze. I am up to date, have tried closing and reopening the app, restarting my phone and I am a passport member. Love PBS, hugely disappointed with this app.

Fix pause button and playing from where left off

PBS Best Shows

The below is the same from my previous review. I was so happy when they fixed the playing from where the show left off feature last year, but a few weeks ago, it stopped working again! Please fix it-now there is no way to get back to my show except to memorize the time where it left off. Now I can’t watch as many from my watchlist because I can’t remember all of those different times. The pause button was never fixed! I am happy to support the station and enjoy the extra length of time I have to watch my shows by supporting PBS. I primarily watch PBS app for my entertainment, and have loved watching the many choices of shows. However, it looks like the creators of the app need to stay up with updates. I tolerated the change when the pause button shrunk so that it became unusable. I even found a way to watch the shows from where I left off after the mid April 2017 iOS update evidently killed the usability of that feature. I have been able to use the watchlist feature well, and have appreciated the changes to that over time. The search feature is wonky and the results don't allow the user to always pull up the show from the list. Using the watchlist feature tends to help that. Please change the following right away: 1) Resume ability to watch from where we left off instantaneously. Currently, I figured out that if I wait about 1 minute to let my iPad screen shut off, then log back in, the video will pull up, but this is time consuming and off-putting to new users of the app. Also, some ads stop playing or never launch when trying to start the show from the beginning. 2)Make the pause and 15sec back buttons usable again. They need to come up in the center and be large and responsive. Currently, they are tiny and in the lower left corner. I have to repeatedly hit them from different angles for them to work. This wasn't as big of an issue until the long delay to replay from start (#1 fix) started happening, since I used to just close the show instead of trying to mess with the pause button. These are crucial fixes to restore usability of the app, and thus generate more support for PBS in general, since the programming is top notch and I would love to see it continue. Most people need to pause and come back to watching shows multiple times in our busy lives. I don't even have a regular TV and watch everything through my iPad. Thanks again for listening and fixing problems. I keep waiting in great anticipation for the next app update.
