Good app, does a lot of what I need

R0NE

I’ve been using this app for several years on and off on my Mac and my iPad. I love being able to annotate my papers, but wish I could write on/resize sticky notes. I also have a lot of difficulty searing for papers or organizing them on my iPad, which is where I increasingly read papers, so that’s a bummer. I have had to manually hit the sync button, but it doesn’t bother me. I enjoy that my notes are carried over. For the next release/update I’d love to see stickies you can write on (and resize) and in-pdf tags.

Abandoned app

No updates for over a year... Would be better to offer a subscription model to pay for continued development..

Invaluable resource

Rencey61

Papers is an invaluable resource. I started using it while doing research for my PhD. By saving all my research to Papers I had instant access and an easy method of organization. As a library and search engine it was excellent. I did however find it difficult to easily apply reference information between papers and my word processing program. I did try using Papers as a linked bibliography data base, but this caused problems with existing references and required me to completely rework my footnotes and references. I admit that this nave been because of some misunderstanding on my part. But, I found the help to be less than helpful. So rather than risk having to redo the references and footnotes again I relied on the built in reference and footnote functions within the word processing program. But, as I said above, I did find the program invaluable as a resource for my PhD and continue to use it as my primary means for searching and accessing research.

UPDATE FOR IPHONE X AND ABOVE !!!

Please update :)

Old bugs come back. Do not trust updates.

xarmeleon

Bugs that were resolved in past versions show up again in new versions. The team of papers take months to fix them. For example exporting PDFs in old versions did not export the notes correctly, then the bug was fixed in a follow up version. Now, the bug is back. I have been waiting for months for the team to fix the problem again. That speaks against the reliability of the app specially considering the premium price tag of the app (for MacBook and mobile devices combined).

Could do with an update

Araida

Papers is great. App isn’t updated to work with the latest iPhones with notches.

Not compatible with iPad Pro screen resolution

kornfeldo

Some features are not accessible due to different resolution on iPad Pro. As an app dedicated to paper reading, making use of all screen space is a must.

Still waiting for XsMax-compatible update

mgnicholls

this used to be a high-value app where i enjoyed reading papers

Better Apple Pencil support

VVvcup

Hope that the finger will not write or highlight when connect to an Apple Pencil

Buggy, limited functionality

Bythenessy

I’ve been a fan of the Papers app for years — it’s been great to be able to access my Papers article collection on my iPad, but this app is pretty buggy when you try to do anything like add new PDFs or curate your journal collection, or do anything besides reading articles. Updates to the app are rare and usually do not add new functionality. One gets the impression that active development of the app has ceased, unfortunately.
