Ruined the app

Bob had sex

A desperate money grab attempt. Was great app 4 years ago. Now it's ruined

do not upgrade

This used to a a great 5 star sketch app and I have used it since day one. I have also bought 2 Paper 53 pencils and thought they were great. It is still a very good basic sketch app; but it is showing its age against new comers like Tusuki sketch; which supports the APPLE pencil very well. What really bugs me is Paper is no longer a simple idea grabbing sketch tool and is evolving into something very different. What even bugs me more is the current update is eliminating some of the pro features i used to have and PAPER wants me to pay for it again ..... no way Goodbye, i will not use it and will not recommend this app to anyone again. Disappointed longtime user

I’ve been using the paid version of this app since 2013 and even purchased the stylus. The resign here removes a features that used to be available for free. You have to pay to change your notebook covers now? Content sync is disabled? The journal format was discontinued a while ago. Upgrading all my cards to journals rotated everything and now it looks terrible.

I’ll pass on the subscription

Nice sketching features, but I don’t want a subscription for something that I can already do with other apps that I own. There are a number of great pay-apps for sketching and drawing with no subscription. I’ll stick with them.

Edit 03NOV2017: I contacted their support about losing the features I paid for and they are working on figuring out why I am missing them. I was told that if I paid for the features before this latest version, I should still have them (they are linked to the email/Apple ID I purchased them under). For some reason, I do not but when they get back in the office on Monday, they are supposed to help me get these features back. They were quick to reply and I sincerely appreciate them helping me thus far. I will provide another update once this has been resolved. As with the many, many reviews here, I am highly disappointed that they are sticking it to us paid users. I purchased all the options a long time ago and now they want me to pay a subscription to get what I already paid for. That's not going to happen for me; lots of other, great sketching apps out there that won't leach from my pocketbook. I really hope for your sake, FiftyThree, that you listen to your users and get this mess fixed!

I use Paper 53 to illustrate my teaching on webinars. Super engaging wonderful tool.

$5.99?

I’m a full-time university student, as well as a full-time worker. I finally made enough side money to buy the new iPad, and my stylus choice for note-taking and drawing was the 53 Pencil. I’m taking all of my engineering and computer science courses next semester, and to use the app specifically built for the stylus I’m purchasing, I need to pay bi-yearly? $5.99/year would honestly be awesome (still steep considering it’s close to a Netflix subscription). The best ‘subscription’ I would gladly pay for, are the individual pro features. $.99 to $1.99 each? Instead of a bi-annual bill in which some features wouldn’t even be used. I really do love the app, I just wish it were more flexible and permanent.

4.0 is a Tragic Paper Update!!

Ray Fisk

Goodbye Paper 53! I was with you as a customer from the beginning. I bought everything you sold, including your weird pencils and your subscription fees. I created lots of journals with custom covers. I used Paper regularly despite the previous annoying updates. The 4.0 update takes away my journal covers and takes away much of the other functionality I used regularly. Argh! No more! I cancelled my subscription. You should create an easy to use export system for our journals, as penance for your appalling disrespect for your customers! Your failure is a tragedy of your own making!

Nice but frustrating

Pay as you go? Really?

Okay I bought your pen, paid for the pro version, and now you want a to do a subscription model? No thanks. Tons of better full featured drawing and painting apps that are worth the one time unlock fee.
