Black screen when offline

Jclark345

This iPad app worked great, until I went offline on a flight. I was reading a story at the gate using wifi, boarded a flight and continued to read, when suddenly I realized the screen went black. I don't think I switched to text mode. After that it stayed black even with wifi. I finally deleted the shortcut and reloaded it, which seemed to fix the problem. Just don't plan on using it offline though!

The App works but fails to recognize iTunes subscription

Sergio Carlos

The latest version of the App simply doesn't work with a $19.99 in-App purchase. It works, however, if you get a digital subscription directly from NR. Apparently iTunes and NR databases don't talk to each other. The App email Technical Support has been friendly, responsive but ineffective. Their suggestions deal with the obvious: Did you Restore the purchases? YES. Did you Reset the App? YES. Did you close and re open the the App? YES. Did you delete and re download thIt works, however,e App? YES. This is indicative that they do not know what the problem is: It's hard to recommend therapy when you don't have a diagnosis! After a week of email exchanges, I have decided to ask Apple for a refund and I will rely on a direct subscription with NR.

Text view

Robywan

The "Text" view uses only 3/4 of the screen as text, wasting precious real estate.

Works for me

Silversurfer1

I don't have a problem with the "text" view / button...gives me two reading options. Would be nice to see all the library at once, but that's not such a big deal. Otherwise, it works fine.

Needs work

Guys, the interface of this app is bad. I shouldn't need to swipe 20 times to find the issue I want. Viewing the issue is no different from reading the kindle version. With your own app, you have the ability to create a much richer experience. Look at the new yorker app. I like your magazine, but I can't recommend this app.

New app worthless

-xgate

You are now greeted with a HUGE banner add for a cruise, and an incredibly small single icon representing all issues. No grid, no list, no easy way to explore issues. This is the worst magazine app available in 2016, possibly the worst app in general. The most infuriating thing is that the app was decent before they updated it, so they intentionally made it into the useless pos it is today. Tragic.

Nice try

Gmck1948

But the App is basically worthless to me because it refuses to accept my (otherwise valid) user name/password, and NR doesn't offer any way to solve that problem.

Good

Good content. You can drag the text window up on the top so it fills the whole screen.

Good app

Love the access to the online content. There are some image loading issues and pretty bad scrolling issues that if fixed would make this a great app.
