Stupid app

Just got logged out the app in one of the upgrades. Can you learn to make the app upgrades transparent to the end user? You should never log them out because you feel like it. There is not respect to users. Welcome to a random experience because Nanoleaf programmers they do not know what they are doing and periodically you will have to redo the setup.

Nonintuitive app / bad support
ja@mac

I spent a couple of hours with tech support via chatting to try to find out simple items such as how to create and save a custom color for lighting (a19 bulbs). The app is not intuitive for such simple tasks. Except using the app occasionally to update the firmware, I will delete it and use the iOS Home app / HomeKit alone to run the nice Nanoleaf lights. The tech support experience for this app left me beyond frustrated - the worst tech support I can remember. When I asked for written or video instructions on setting up a light scene and also on how to save a color, he sent me a link to a video for which he stated “Here is a video although it is a bit outdated”. First, it was not relevant to the current version of the app. It was so outdated that a year ago, a commenter stated the video should be deleted due to it being outdated. I am incredulous that there are no written instructions for the app/product. Yes there are current videos for this app, but they lack some important details and are unclear in areas such as using a threading device other than Google’s (the video seemed to imply that the HomePod mini would not work, which I don’t believe is correct). I recommend using only iOS Home app for the a19 Nanoleaf lights.

You like problems? Nanoleaf has problems. Come get em

I am about $1500 deep in canvas panels. Initially, I was very excited about nanoleaf…. A month in, I started wondering if I was crazy or stupid or why, exactly, this system is the only one in my smart home that is constantly losing connectivity, whether I try to use HomeKit, Alexa, or google. The hardware also has issues, with one square deciding randomly not to sync with all the rest. Well, after some research, I came to find out that nanoleaf is basically in the business of torturing their customers. Check out Reddit or any number of comment sections & discussion boards. They know they have huge hardware problems - that their controllers fail or “brick” themselves with alarming frequency, that hardly anyone can maintain a consistent connection via thread, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or what have you, that their servers are so bogged down at peak times that they are effectively nonfunctional. Nonetheless, if you have the misfortune of trying to deal with customer support, it’s the same story over & over: They will act like they are aware of no issues whatsoever. They will send you through a kafkaesque process of doing “hard resets” & “soft resets” over & over, forcing you to have someone film you doing this so you can upload it on YouTube for them to watch (they don’t have a system for you to send this video to them independently), after which they will often ask you to do it again (and film it again). Eventually, after you’ve lost many hours of your life to these performances & streams of communication, they will likely admit that… Yes, the problem was nanoleaf all along. Then they might send you a replacement piece of hardware. Lucky you, you still get to have hours sucked out of your life by their awful software & servers.

Code for light
bret ellis

I was trying to connect my lights to my phone by typing in the code but it is saying the code is incorrect.

Horrible just horrible.

I have about 19 of these bulbs now and I wish I didn’t. HomeKit response is horrible. They are constantly “updating”. I literally took down my entire HomeKit and started over and just one bulb is “updating” …on firmware 1.6.8 on all bulbs. They just don’t work and are not responsive.

Had connection for about 2 hours
LapisAndPeridot

Day 1 of having these the lights themselves are amazing but the app no longer connects to the lights just after a couple hours and neither soft or hard resets fix the issue

First but not last…

Got it for Xmas and I’ll be getting at least 2 more soon. Very user friendly and fun to play with. Highly recommended to me and now to you?

Terrible Product
Why's in

Shapes will not connect or reset. I wish this item was in the front seat of the Tesla that was blown up.
