Sometimes constraints are good

Ricky Tenderkiss

I'm quite enjoying MUBI. In the past 24 hours I've watched two movies that were about to expire: a Czechoslovakian feature I might not've otherwise watched that I enjoyed thoroughly, and a film I hadn't yet seen by a favorite French director. Maybe the scarcity of choice and limited viewing time sweeten the experience, or perhaps the selections are simply very very good: by not trying to appeal to every taste and cram empty shelves full with every feature imaginable (and some best left unimagined: Netflix's deal with Adam Sandler, anyone?) the MUBI programmers are able to limit themselves to the cream of the international crop. Regardless of why, however, I am definitely so far enjoying my MUBI experience, and I would not hesitate to recommend this service to diehard cinéastes everywhere.

Most interesting movies

You won't find a more eclectic set of films anywhere else.

Interesting, but shaky connections ...

... when compared to Netflix, Apple or Amazon.

Great App!

Regis Pina

I have no complaints whatsoever about this app, it's beautifully designed and works very well. :)

great except one thing

SMAU5

the movie choices and general interface are fantastic the only bummer is that foreign films only have subtitles in the language of the country you are in, which is an unnecessary restriction. what if you are traveling? what if you don't speak the language of the country you recently moved to? i'm hoping this will be addressed soon. still a fantastic app.

Great for film lovers

What sets this site apart is that it will have a lot of very hard to find films of very high standard. The kind you cannot even get on DVD. The curation has very good taste, also a lot of international films, retrospectives of films from Directors who are interesting but sometimes obscure. And a lot of interesting stuff that 99.99 percent of us never heard of.

Does the job perfectly

I am very excited about this new app

Yes, passion and peculiar curiosity still lives. Here! Mubi hosts some of the worlds most intriguing and classically undisputed entertaining cinema of the past 100 years. A force to the online movie world. When my movie store closed down in Greenwich village, i cried sad tears. When i was introduced to Mubi i cried tears of joy! Alas! More than 3 years later i still stand by my never-bored proclamation.

They never have movies I like and you can’t search thru the app. You have to go online then it brings you back to the app.

not global

very disappointing that the films being screened in the USA are not available whilst i am in Canada. This is a sorry mystery to me as there are streaming devices available that bypass all ‘walls’ across the globe. what’s up MUBI?
