Okay, so if people would actually continue playing the game they wouldn’t give it a low rating. I absolutely love the show and I love the game just as much!!

Great game

Got me into the amazing TV show, so 5/5

Woefully Short and Underwhelming
Silentknight24

Anyone who’s “played” through the story might chuckle when I describe it as short, but when you factor out the wait times, the actual meat of the story doesn’t really last that long. I really loved the idea behind this game, and I love the team at Night School Studio, but it felt like there was a lot lacking here. Your choices, ultimately, are inconsequential and you don’t really get much more insight on the characters from the show. I was really hoping to learn something about Darlene’s mindset during the Steel Mountain hack, but you don’t get much more than what you might have assumed. If nothing else, you find out that you were the one who told Darlene about the meet up with Cisco at the library. So...cool? Also we never get a resolution to the group chat with the randos! C’mon!

Fantastic game for a Mr. Robot fan

The title was fantastic, from the musical theme to the writing to the mechanics. Let’s get the bad out of the way: the “waiting for text” mechanic got old fast. When I sit down to play I don’t want one or two minutes of gameplay, only to have to wait anywhere from 5 mins to 24 hours to get the next text. Often, I’d open the game to play during my lunch break, do all I can in a minute or two, and then I’d get the notification for the next part after my lunch break was over. Due to that, the game was lengthened to take me over a month to finish, artificially! As a gamer, the mechanics were also too simple. But, to respect the art the way it is, you couldn’t write the same story in novel format or as an episode of the show, it had to be told the way it was. Now for the good: the story was phenomenal. The people you interact with felt like real people with real stories. You had hilarious “side quests” like a group chat you’re roped into that you don’t want to be a part of. You get to know another side of Darlene. You interact with Elliot before he learns the truth about his relationship with Darlene. You see pictures of the characters that aren’t in the show. You learn about one of the server hosts that E Corp uses, AirDream. And you socially engineer smart people, dumb people, and apathetic people. I really liked the experience, and despite the dumb mechanic where you had to wait and a couple of long repetitive parts where I clearly failed and “lost the game” where it made me start the section from the beginning, this is one of the best app experiences I’ve ever had. Playing a game about using a phone on a phone is a wonderful idea and fits into the world of Mr. Robot perfectly. F Society

It was cool to interact with people from the show, though mr robot was more intimidating than I thought he’d be

This game is broken.

Don't waste your time or money. Great concept, poor execution.

Still stuck on Henry Cohen
Director_X

It's a fun game but I've gotten stuck twice due to bugs. I'm still stuck on Henry Cohen, a bug they claimed to fix in this most recent update. Fix it please. Update: Still stuck. It's been 26 days since he last replied. He must have gotten hit by a bus. Downgrading to 1 star.

Overall enjoyable

I thought it was a lot of fun and that group text thread was hilarious!

Addicting..

I've never seen a game like this, and love the show. Feels like you are really a part of the plot, somehow. There are definitely a few bugs here and there, but all-in-all a great time killer, and quite agonizing when you are waiting for your next move! I wish the sub plots (Chime, group texts, spam) allowed for more interaction during the down time.. Although I love and keep playing it, I think I definitely had higher expectations for plot to continue for the 2.99. HINT FOR THOSE WHO FEEL STUCK FROM POTENTIAL BUG: You don't have to answer EVERY message... it may be in hindsight now, but if your answers don't say what you want to say to certain important people, you do NOT have to respond to move the plot along.

Too many flaws for a paid game

It's easy to ignore bugs in freemium games. If your experience is impacted in a freemium game, you are just less likely to make in-app purchases, no loss for you. When I purchase a game up front, I expect it to be tested and supported. As trivial as it sounds, notifications are integral to the flow of this game. This app has a bug that causes the notification badge to get stuck, and it totally ruins the experience. I love this show and was really hoping the game would live up to the quality of the show. Very disappointed.
