Whoops the Books app!!!

I love the overall app and it is by far superior to the Apple app for the same purpose! Never remove a single feature you have! Answered the 2 of three problems Apple couldn’t when the ditched iTunes leaving the audiobook lovers in the cold! On the flip side it would be sweet to add a grouping method like folders or genre sorting. At a minimum a manual sort option. Take a look at comic zeal as an idea for sorting. Thank you very much!!
Playback speed increase and equalizer are not a good mix

With the addition of an equalizer to this app I can’t listen to files at a faster speed. I also can’t dial in settings to compensate for the quality degradation with faster speed engaged and I’m an audio engineer. ?♂️

I don’t understand why the developer has not, after frequent updates, fixed a critical issue. This app crashes. Regularly. It’s unusable. Kybook3 is a far more reliable alternative.

(TL;DR) I’m splitting this into three parts: (1)glitch that needs to be fixed. (2)annoyance that if addressed would please me. (3)what every other review from long time users complain about: I want my 2x etc. speed option back and I hate the app ruining equalizer. 1.)Stops playing if I’m playing a game: A few updates ago messed with that. Now I can still listen, but every time the chapter changes (on mp3 files) and it goes to the next track in the book, the audio stops. I bring the app up, it shows as playing but the time isn’t going. It’s weird. I have to pause, hit play, then for some reason pause and hit play again to get going again. For books with long chapters this is just an annoyance, when listening to books that have a ton of 2-3 minute chapters, it’s too frustrating. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled, my phones up to date and so is my app (not hard since updates are so rare. Useful updates are nonexistent...) 2.)Mini-rant about the icon color update: If you’re going to let us change the icon and color and call that an update, at least give us more than blue and orange to choose from. I get that those are your apps colors, but no one but me sees my apps so let me pick pink or purple or green! 3.)Serious rant about the equalizer: Bring back the speed option and drop the equalizer!! I used to be able to speed things up and the quality stayed the same. The introduction of the equalizer ruined that. If I can figure out which sliders to toggle, no matter what, everything just sounds like it’s being read by the chipmunks. It ruined my favorite feature. Stop “fixing” things that aren’t broken!!

Apple built in apps for playing mp3 audio books stopped working (reliably) when iTunes was deleted from macOS. This app does the job perfectly. I do wish the app would pause when CarPlay navigation instructions are being read out, but that is a minor issue.

App worked great for a year. Most recent update renders the app useless.

The app worked great until the 1.116 version release. Now it’s extremely slow to switch between books and many audio files won’t play. It’s now unusable. Hopefully the developer will fix the issues with the last update soon.
