Beautiful

The game is beautiful. It’s so calm and pretty. This game deserves five stars.???

An excellent sequel

Icebox93

More of the clever gameplay and simple yet complexly beautiful drawing that made the first game so wonderful.

Hmmm

So I loved the Monument Valley, and I was stoked to see this version came out. I had really high hopes for it since I really enjoyed the first one. Though it was really fun, I finished it in one day which is too quick! I played it on and off through out the day too! So I don’t really feel like it’s worth $5... I don’t know if I’m “smart” or if this version is too easy? I don’t know but I don’t think this version lives up to my expectation.

Best iOS app out right now

This game is so amazing. It’s fun, the pictures are breathtaking, and the intuitivity of the design is capturing!! Can’t recommend enough! MORE MORE!!! Eagerly awaiting more monument games!!!

Amazing!

This is by far my favorite iOS game EVER! I was so addicted by the second puzzle. So great as stress-relief AND brain exercise. In my 40’s as a stay-at-home-Mom, I really needed this game. I had to ask my son for a few hints, but am pretty proud to have done 99.9% of it myself. Who knew I could think so well outside of the box?! Finished this one, so decided to go grab the other one. Hopefully there will be more to come!

Mother-daughter theme is stifling and banal

spinteractive

Very heavy handed narrative espousing the virtues of motherhood and the beautiful wonderful gift of being the daughter of a beautiful wonderful mother. The gameplay suffers and is ultimately stifled under the heavy burden of being the vehicle for delivering this outmoded and anachronistic narrative. The predecessor to this game rocked. This abortion is a monument to ego and matronizing outmoded narratives. Shame.

No Challenge; Pretty but Brainless; Poor Value

If you’d like a brief interlude featuring some soothing music and colorful graphics but no actual mental challenge, then MV2 fits the bill. You can run through it all in an evening, and all of the “puzzles” are straightforward, with vague and somewhat pretentious bits of narrative interspersed. I was shocked by how many scenes required the character to move on a simple path from A to B with no options at all. Meh! The best part was the swirly star between levels. If you’d like some actual puzzles, try the Rusty Lake series (weird and mostly free), The Inner World 1 and 2 (charming and challenging, long storyline), or the best of the best, The Room series.

I almost cried

Everything anyone has ever said about MV2’s visuals and sound; ditto. At one point, I literally closed my eyes and just listened to the menu music for about a minute. It’s that gorgeous. The additional narrative element is what sets this apart from MV1, however; you guide a mother and daughter solving problems together, and experience a separation that is necessary for the daughter to grow. I don’t want to give away too much, so I won’t describe more, but it’s safe to say they have earned every bit of money I have them. I think this resonates so well with audiences because it’s a general story about parenthood and kids growing up, and several people on the ustwo team had kids as they were building this game. So they were able to input their lived experiences into the story. Just such a wonderful game. I’m really glad it exists. I’m happy for its success.
