No Challenge; Pretty but Brainless; Poor Value – Monument Valley 2 Review

If you’d like a brief interlude featuring some soothing music and colorful graphics but no actual mental challenge, then MV2 fits the bill. You can run through it all in an evening, and all of the “puzzles” are straightforward, with vague and somewhat pretentious bits of narrative interspersed. I was shocked by how many scenes required the character to move on a simple path from A to B with no options at all. Meh! The best part was the swirly star between levels. If you’d like some actual puzzles, try the Rusty Lake series (weird and mostly free), The Inner World 1 and 2 (charming and challenging, long storyline), or the best of the best, The Room series.
