I almost cried – Monument Valley 2 Review

Everything anyone has ever said about MV2’s visuals and sound; ditto. At one point, I literally closed my eyes and just listened to the menu music for about a minute. It’s that gorgeous. The additional narrative element is what sets this apart from MV1, however; you guide a mother and daughter solving problems together, and experience a separation that is necessary for the daughter to grow. I don’t want to give away too much, so I won’t describe more, but it’s safe to say they have earned every bit of money I have them. I think this resonates so well with audiences because it’s a general story about parenthood and kids growing up, and several people on the ustwo team had kids as they were building this game. So they were able to input their lived experiences into the story. Just such a wonderful game. I’m really glad it exists. I’m happy for its success.
