Just great!

This minimal app brilliantly compensate the lack of details and info in the iOS photos app.

Must Have.

I don’t have the paid version, I don’t need it. But I’ve been using it for I think years and it’s always worked perfectly. Great if your an amateur and you just want to check the pixel dimensions of an image from iMessage or sms or if your a pro who’s importing DSLR photos and need to see your EV when studying your shots on the go. Like another review said, Apple is lacking by not having this natively and this app perfectly makes up for it. (Google photos also shows some of the exif data I believe so some people probably use that) Also it’s perfect because you can see the data in the Apple photos app: click share (box with arrow) and then select Metapho even if you aren’t sending it but just to view. (You can select multiple at once and the interface is the same as in the app BRILLIANT!) Customize to put Metapho close to the top of the share options list to streamline the workflow :)

What Happened To This App?

Something has happened where you can only edit less than 5 photos at a time. I used to pick out about 20+ photos at one time and I could have them modified. Now I pick that many out, hit modify and nothing happens. The page sits there and sits there with check marks on everything you picked. But nothing ever happens. Then you have to start over and just pick out less than 5. Takes forever to do what I wish to do.

I end up with all duplicates in iPhoto

LBVandal

I import from card to Lightroom to iPhoto to Metapho and back to iPhoto. Lightroom can not export to Metapho as far as I can tell. This causes me to end up with duplicates of all my photos. Either I’m doing something wrong and don’t know how to fix it or this is just how it works. Bummer.

Still worth keeping around, even with iOS 15

When iOS 15 first came out and I saw it had native metadata viewing, I naively thought I could delete Metaphoto (have been using for years). Apple’s implementation is much worse. For starters, it only works in Photos. Compared to Metaphoto that works anywhere there’s the share button (I use it in Messages all the time). Apple also frequently has the focal length field blank for photos imported to my library from my canon, even while Metaphoto can accurately show me all the fields. Metaphoto is simply a must-have for any photographer.

Requires a 4.99 purchase to work

Absolutely not free.

Best for adding/fixing metadata

Taapl

I was looking for an app that lets me find pictures that are lacking location (old ones before phones had GPS) or had bad time stamps (scans of printed photos). After trying five metadata apps this the only one that does the job. Plus the customer support is great. Totally worth the price for premium.

Overall is good

I want to be able to edit more metadata fields as other apps in the appstore do

This App Works If You’re Willing To Pay

Haightmale

Granted, the app works as advertised as long as you pay for the app. What makes me mad is that you can download the app, you can view your EXIF and metadata embedded in any photo, but you can’t remove the location or edit the metadata unless you pay $3.99. I wasn’t informed about that before I downloaded the app and that’s duplicitous and shady imho. App developers and companies must be transparent and articulate the REAL cost of using an app right up front. This app developer doesn’t do that. Beware!

Whyyyyyy

..?.?.?.?.?.?.?.?.?.?.

Apps like these need to at least say if you need to pay just to use a feature
