Too many ads, auto redirecting to app store

go_mavs1

I like the content in the app, but recently, the app keeps automatically redirecting to the app store as if I clicked on an ad, even though I didn't click on any of the ads. Needs to get fixed.

Ads make App Unreasonable

Stephen Rupp

This used to be a decent app for Apple News, now it has lost anything it had going for it. Originally it was a much nicer way to navigate articles than via the web, now it loads ads immediately whenever a user clicks to read an article. MDN has become far more about making money via ads than providing great content. In the short term I may still get some Apple news at MDN via the web. But for the much longer term, I'm switching back to MacRumors.

Repeating notifications Ads galore

Blakeintosh

The app constantly repeats notifications. This is a well-known developer bug and there are loads of articles on how to fix the issue. Considering this app has been out since last December, it's rather disappointing that MDN hasn't resolved it. Considering the insane number of Ads that the App serves, there should be plenty of Ad revenue to cover the time to fix the notifications bug. I'm once again uninstalling from my iOS devices and Perhaps try again in a couple of years. What a shame. Back to MacHash.

MDN loves ads

GizmoDan

Content is pretty good when you can get to it. I can't EVER comment on articles with this app. Doesn't work. And lately, it randomly sends me to App Store apps while I'm trying to read. Very aggravating. But lately, when I try to return from the App Store, I get a blank screen, and have to dump the whole MDN app to recover. Sometimes more that once. In conclusion, for an app who's job is to allow me to read and comment, it's a failure.

What happened?!?!?!

IanGunn13

When this app stops kicking me to the App Store when I haven't clicked anything, I'll give it 5 stars again. I understand the need for ads, but this is incredibly annoying!!!!!! Getting kicked out to the App Store has gotten me so p***ed that I came back to write again how absurdly annoying it is. Especially because when you hit the "back to macdailynews" button, it only loads a blank page. If it's not fixed soon, I'll just end up deleting the App.

Notifications Stopped Working

craizin

Several weeks ago, push MDN notifications stopped working on both my iPhone and iPad. Please fix.

Just horrid...

Doug Bob

It was shocking how bad this new version is. When I unwittingly updated to this version, it was such a shock, I used time machine to dig out an old copy of MDN, delete the new abomination and put back the old version. Eisner then, I've been battling to keep iTunes from updating it. I now keep a copy of the old one stashed away in case I slip up and update it.

Ads Have Made the App Miserable to Use

JBMII

The number of ads is completely unreasonable. In general, ads are making the entire web surfing experience unusable. This app is now the worst I've seen due to intrusive ads. Please tell me this is not the future!

Used to read MacDaileyNews everyday. Not now!!! Don't waste your time. Just use Safari and News Block.

Poorly implemented ads

Ryan Lawrence Lane

MacDailyNews is great, and you would think that their app would be of acceptable quality, but it absolutely is not. The need for revenue from ads is understandable, but the terrible technical implementation in this app is astounding. The ads get in the way of my finger when attempting t scroll, they will obstruct the first paragraph of article text, they randomly take over the app and go full screen without a way to exit, and they will randomly pop me out to the App Store with no user interaction. Honestly, if I didn't know that I was on iOS, I would have said that this app was malware. I don't understand how an ad system could be so poorly implemented for so long. And why doesn't MacDailyNews set up an ad-free tier that I can pay for? I would pay for that! Also, major functionality gripe: when I get a news notification for a specific story on this app, then I tap on that notification, my expectation is that I will be taken to that story. That is not what happens, I am simply taken to the main screen of the app, where I then have to manually trigger the app to load new stories, then find the story I wanted, then tap on it (which then submits me to the ad-based torture described above). Bad form MacDailyNews...I thought you were better than this.
