I updated to 4.0. Love the update. What I appreciate: - Everything is faster. - more easily switches between languages - bug fixes - everything seems to work perfectly. - clicking on words is more responsive. It is easier to select new phrases. - pagination: A+. Reading with LingQ feels like reading with Kindle. - dictionary / word lookup improvements: especially with Latin where Google Translate is more limited, the way the app jumps from reading, to the hint editor, to a third party dictionary on another site and back, is intuitive and frictionless. Well done! - real-time coin counting: It is a small thing but provides an additional layer of satisfaction especially in a challenging text. - The lessons feed - I got a kick out of seeing "so-and-so read this 2 minutes ago." Good to see what others are doing. Thanks to the LingQ staff for all your hard work.

The new LingQ update is everything I've been hoping for. It now features an e-reader like functionality for many foreign languages, along with with a vast library of content form beginner all the way to advanced and beyond. The idea is simple, read the texts while listening to the audio, click on any unknown words for instant translation, keep on online database of known words and words you're still studing, and optionally review flashcards as needed. The method provides a suprisingly fast progression in language acqusition as compared to any other app based program I've tried. Highly recommened!

The old app was useful but glitchy and an eye sore. The facelift makes it more desirable to use and overall its more functional. Great improvement for a great system of learning.

It does a good job of removing the technological barriers that slow you down, so you can focus on the real tasks of language learning--listening, noting new words, reading, and intelligent review. Hoping for Chinese pin yin texts when they get to it.

I have tried many apps over the last couple years since I began learning Mandarin Chinese. LingQ is by far the best system for language learning. Until this app I spent much of my time toggling between apps for flash cards, dictionary, reading practice and listening. This app does it all efficiently and simply. Best of all, you can work on several languages at once and it remembers your progress.

Very happy with how quickly you can read and understand hiragana, katakana and kanji. This is really the a fundamental requirement for leading Japanese.
