LingQ is effective in helping beginners overcome common obstacles in language learnings. Be patient with the app and you will see great improvement.

May Just be the Best App for Language Learning

I've been using a number of apps to learn Dutch. Duolingo, Memrise, and AccelaStudy as well as a few others. They've all been great in different ways. But none of them give you an immersive experience like LingQ. It has been so much easier to improve my reading and listening being able to follow along as the lessons are spoken. The import feature is really great, allowing you to import news articles too. It has blown me away so far and I can't wait to use it from the beginning of a language once I finish Dutch.

Great way to supplement language learning

If your target language is on LingQ, enjoy! You can download material and practice your language. Some languages have a bounty of material and you can listen and read simultaneously to a great number of texts.

Great app for a great system

LingQ fits well with my personal style of language learning. The app works very well and makes it easy to practice, whether for a few minutes or for an extended period.

Lingq is great. I have used it to learn Italian.

I love the continued enhancements to the program, in particular: 1). The daily feed from Italian newspapers. 2). The ability to import large texts, even books, which are then broken down into manageable 2,000 word pieces.

Great app!

I’m concentrating on improving my French speaking and writing. With LingQ, my vocabulary has grown, and I’ve gained more confidence in speaking. I’ve found listening to the LingQ lessons is helping with all aspects of language learning.

Users must determine what is the right definition of a word they don’t know. Many of the definitions (which are user provided) are not correct. This makes the program very challenging to use. It does offer a lot of content, but rarely provides translations. Literal translation are often incorrect, so it can be very tedious trying to translate lessons. Many glitches in programming and folks that you reach through Help are not at all responsive.

Magical flash cards

Imagine a deck of flashcards with magical powers and you have LingQ, which I have been using for about two years now, growing my Italian vocabulary to over 13,000 words. I can use it both on my Mac computer and my iPhone. I looked at other similar services but none of them came close to the thorough, imaginative way that LingQ works. There are lots of materials to read for whatever level you’re on—or you can enter your own texts. Reading and listening, you mark the words you don’t know and forget the rest. The marked words then pop up in your daily reviews until you mark them as learned. It’s an ambitious program and improvements show up regularly. Occasionally I’ve had a problem making my account work the way it should, but the help department has been able to solve it for me.
