Great AOU Update

naturefaith

I’ve been waiting for iBird to update to the latest 2017 AOU standard and the app doesn’t disappoint. Love the new illustrations, detailed range maps and songs. I went ahead and bought the Mexican Owls in-app purchase as the Time of Day. Both outstanding developments. Thanks iBird developers.

Best birding app ever!

LMLHC

No matter what you need from a birding app, this has it.

Worth it!

Use it almost every day.

Solid birding app

veganrunner

Was a bit hesitant to spend this much on a birding app, but is was definitely worth it. Great illustrations, sound library, and tons of supporting information. App allows you to add your own photos which is neat. The slide show allows to to sit back and watch and listen, helping with identification skills. I don’t think you could go wrong with this app if your looking for an all around bird guide.

No more updates for me..

this is really a 5 star app but for one major annoyance. It seems like any and every update requires downloading the entire app. There must be a way that you can accomodate just downloading an update without having to transfer greater than 1.7 gig of data. Does someone with a 5 gig plan for their iphone uses 25% of their monthly data plan just to update this app? What's up with that? I don't have the fastest wireless connection, but not the slowest, and I have to walk away and forget about it for an hour every time I do an update on this app. Another update and same old problem.. Anybody out there listening? Another update and still no change.. and now the icon is gone.. i have just updated this app for the very last time. Obvious to me they want no input from customers/users. Or maybe they just don’t have an app developer smart enough to solve the problem.. hallmark Admittedly i was somewhat short in my last review. I received response from the developer which you can read for yourself.. which frankly in my opinion sounded rather snide and missed the point entirely. My point is that it should not require downloading 1.7 gig of data no matter what type of internet connection you have.. in order to get an new rev with as little as 8 new birds in it. If your 4g unlimited plan throttles back to 3g after 5 or 10 gig of data, why would anyone want to use that large of a chunk of their data to update one app. I always save updates to this app for doing while i am getting my tires rotated or some other free wifi waiting room. Sounds ridiculous doesn’t it? And for the record i do not have a garden and don’t complain about the water bill.. we have a well and i don’t need a new well pump every time i use it.

I registered already three times. How do I make the registration screen go away so I can use the app? Update. On the second day, the registration screen had disappeared when I activated the app. Now I can use it and can say it looks good like the very old version I replaced. On that basis alone, I'll upgrade my rating for now.

Excellent field guide app

Rich W.

This app keeps getting better and better, and is a must have for anyone in the field.

Great Bird Ref for Photographers

Firstshot

I’m an amateur ornithologist, so this bird app has been a huge help identifying birds I’ve photographed. I shoot nature and travel photos, so I tend to be opportunistic when It comes to photographing birds. Then I have the task of identifying them if they are unfamiliar. This app offers the huge benefit of the bird’s call which has been of great assistance. People in the field with me get a big kick out it as well. Nicely done. I’ve literally been using this app since it came out and through various name changes. Finally decided to rate it. Didn’t want to rush into it :)

Search function downgraded

Stvme

I have been trying to figure out how to email the developer but have not been able to figure it out. This was my go to App for Birding until a recent update seems to take away the ability to search by month and state. You can still search by state but not by month. It is frustrating because I like to use this app not only in the field but when I am planning for a trip. I am currently hoping to go to Arizona in May and I cannot use this app for review because I cannot get a relevant list up. Maybe they think that the “Birds Around Me” is an upgrade but it doesn’t help when you do not have a cellular connection and it definitely doesn’t help in planning for a trip. I still think it has the best collection of vocalizations of any App out there which is why I gave it a three, and I will correct my rating if this gets fixed, but I will literally have to be looking for a different app to use if it does not get fixed.
