I’m a longtime customer and this app doesn’t work. I’m forced to use my desktop for all my online banking with this bank while I can use mobile banking at all my other institutions. Piece of crap!

I am a software developer who makes mobile apps and a user of many financial institutions’ apps. I’m not going to spend my time detailing all that is bad about the HSBC mobile app (in part because it is terrible in ways that roam into uncharted territory where I did not even know things could be so substandard and/or uniquely dysfunctional)

Pointless dumb app. Won’t even let me deposit a check. Keeps telling me “unable to read the number at the bottom of the check” what a dumb bank. I tried three different checks from two different banks. I’ll be closing my account so I don’t have to rely on a machine to decide if I’m allowed to deposit. My other banks will just send the deposit for manual review and I get the money no matter what. Not HSBC they will just mess with you and force you to call them or go to an ATM. Pass.

Their customer service is horrible, I deposited my pay check from their mobile app and they blocked me from account for now a week saying it’s be audited. Closing this account once they allow me to use my funds.

Crashes on iOS 14

Trying to switch from my security token to the HSBC app like the web version suggested, and downloaded it. Could not even start the app - it crashed back to Home Screen on my iPhone/iOS 14. You folks tested it on a bunch of devices, before putting it on the App Store, didn’t you? Please don’t deprecate your security tokens before having a good backup process for app-based 2FA. It would certainly prompt all your customers to take their money elsewhere.

Shame on HSBC for providing their customers with such a horrible app. For years now this app doesnt work properly-cant log in, face time not recognized, pass is not accepted, doesnt see checks that i tried to deposit over camera. Anything u do over the app is an issue!
