Easy to use app

I’ll skip the pros since a lot of reviews cover that in depth. For a feature request, i wish this app supported the iPad Pro split view / dock feature so that I could use hello Chinese on half the screen and a note taking app on the other half.

Very helpful for learning to speak, but learning strategies for the written language are not very helpful. Adding sections where only mandarin script (without pinyin) and the user is required to speak or translate the sentence back to English would be helpful.

Wow. I have been using this app for around 9 months 5-30 minutes a day 4-6 days per week and I went from knowing nothing about mandarin to consistently improving at a fantastic rate. I believe it is one of the best apps to use to keep you motivated and improving. I usually don't spend my time writing reviews for apps, but this is worthwhile. It offers settings to choose simplified or traditional characters, daily games that increase in levels each day, and step by step interactive lessons that include writing + listening + reading + speaking with feedback on pronunciation and tones. I just started my formal beginners Chinese course and everything feels so easy since this app has already taught me so much! If you want to learn Mandarin, get this app. You will not regret it (:

So far I love this app! I love that I can practice the writing repeatedly. It has “instructions” for correcting the direction to form the “brush” strokes. I can practice blindly or with a template. There are so many little learning components that make this app fantastic! The quizzes are great too mixing word recognition with pronunciation skills—-although I’m clearly having a difficult time pronouncing the 2nd tone. I can spend all day practicing my Mandarin with this app!
