Changing “unread” to “read”

I have a message marked as “unread” and need to change it to read. I see no way to do this procedure. Can you help??
Messages don’t come through until I close and reopen the app

It works alright overall, but sometimes I’ll be messaging my boyfriend and I’ll sit there for about 10 minutes waiting for him to respond. Apparently, he always responds to me right after I message him, but I don’t see that until I close the app and notice that I have a notification from Google Chats from 10 minutes ago.
Messages not going thru and falling to send and app freezing up

I’ve been using Google chat for awhile now and the app keeps freezing up and failing to send messages! Please fix this! Thank you

The user interface is just totally not one of it. We never expected it ? And you should add an option where we can see all the pictures sent in a chat. We shouldn’t have to scroll up endlessly to see all the pictures been exchanged in a chat
No split screen

So, let me see… this is supposed to be a team collaboration app without… split screen support. Come on, this is ridiculous!
Incoming chats don’t appear

The latest message doesn’t appear in the chat without navigating back/forward to the chat. I see the incoming notification, click it, a google chat opens, but the message isn’t there. So for every new chat it’s like 4 taps to actually read it. Well, back to Hangouts…
