Now I can’t update any of my book progress statuses! Hoping this’ll be resolved in the next app update.
A very concerned engineer
Indeed I, too, have trouble updating my reading progress. Half the reason I use this app doesn’t seem to work! Half the satisfaction I get out of the app is taken away from me. Harumph. The consolation is it appears to take my “I’ve finished!” updates. One thing I do note (as someone who works in software myself) that the backend does appear to work. I checked the webapp in a browser on my desktop and it actually does take — the data in the UI just isn’t updating on my phone. That’s the reason this currently gets three and not two stars. Hope that helps, you devs!

It is not syncing properly. It is not allowing me to store my reading updates. My feed is not showing me recent updates. I am very confused about what’s going on. It has never happened before. Also I have tried to redownload it and sign back in but no results.

The app will not update the progress on a book currently being read. It goes back to the first time the progress was updated.

It won’t let me update my progress on the book I’m currently reading beyond 23%. Every time I mark it further, the app reloads and is back to 23%.

There are some glaringly obvious pros and cons to this app. PRO: I love that you are able to find new books, based off of your interests and what you have read, so easily. CONS: There are major flaws with the app once you get in there and play with it. You cannot do everything in the app that you can do on a computer, such as unfollowing people and entering giveaways. It is actually frustrating that you cannot do it on your phone but can on the website. Also, would love to see a feature that recommends friends based on common book interests or, at the very least, an easier way to find your friends on this app. This app makes it so hard to connect with others and nearly impossible to find who you are looking for. Overall, I love the idea behind this app but it needs a lot of work.

It no longer updates my “reading” content with my current status (pages or percentages). I can update it and hit “done” and the books will still show 0% complete. Edit: they fixed it!

I love the ability to scan a book with my phone and add it to my reading list. I love the reading challenges. I hate...neigh...DESPISE the constant emails about the activities of Facebook friends adding books. I wish it would stop. I truly hate it. I hate my inbox bogged down with just junk and nonsense. I don’t care what other people are reading. I read what I like and I don’t concern myself with the trappings of others. I would adore the ability to OPT OUT of receiving emails. That would be bliss.

So this issue has been around for years, but you still can’t edit dates. Sure there’s a link and you can slide through start and finish dates and even add reading sessions, but do they save? No. You can go back to the screen to confirm that you changed the date, then go back to the book page and the date you initially put in to mark that you finished it is still the same. There is no submit or save button on the date editing screen either. That seems like something that would be easy to add. Changing dates on the mobile site is also frustratingly difficult, and if I wanted to log everything online, then why would I even bother with the app? Why is this easy problem not fixed?
