Admittedly, I have an older phone, 6+. I can’t update to iOS 13. Other than that, the phone is up to date. Earlier today I was able to open it and I was working on downloading offline info. Finally got it to work after multiple tries. The app would crash very often in the process. It would go black and eventually close. Now, it just does that while finding initial caches around me. It just doesn’t work. After further experimenting, apparently downloaded data was causing the problem. I deleted the app and reinstalled. No downloaded data and app has not crashed yet.

The activity is amazing. I love Geocaching, it’s just annoying you have to pay. You have to pay for 2+ difficulty, and for other types. If you do pay for it (I am about to), but the yearly membership. It is the same price as buying 5 separate months. With the yearly, you buy 5 months and get 7 months free.

I know diehard geocachers out there (my dad) would rather use a GPS device to find caches but I enjoy using the geocache app when I’m traveling. So far I’ve found caches in 23 states and a handful of countries. Such easy entertainment and once you upgrade to premium, they’re evvvvvvverywhere!

I can’t get on to try this. It looks really interesting and I’ve been looking a a new hobby, but when I try to launch it I get a network error. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times to no avail. If/ when it works I’ll update.

Geocaching was created by a global community for free. This app’s new fees structures are trying to exploit the efforts of the geo cache community without adding any value to users. We’re all done with the app and moved on to other alternatives.

The classic version was much better, with the ability to see higher than level 1 caches or terrain. Living in a smaller community there are not many, and then you cut a good portion of those that are above level 1 and it is no fun. Maybe just church a flat fee for the app, but a monthly fee or annual fee is too much
