Doesn’t connect

My iPhone connects to the garmin fine but the live traffic doesn’t work as the app doesn’t recognize the connection.

A while lot of useless features packed into an app that barely does the one thing that would make it most useful- search map and send to GPS over BT.

This app is useless, the only use for it is for traffic. I am surprised that this is all Garmin has to offer for Automobile Navigation devices, I can’t even look up and send an address to my device with this.

Garmin finally got it together

Updated June 2018: After several years of this app being buggy and working only temporarily after needing to be unpaired and then repaired to your Garmin device, it is now working very well reliably every time with my iPhone. I have submitted many tickets and Bluetooth logs to Garmin in hopes of getting this fixed and I am so pleased that it is not working well please keep it that way and don’t mess it up. This is a must-have for any Garmin compatible device user! The coverage is much greater than FM reception areas which are limited to only urban cities. I get coverage with this well outside of the city boundaries. A+. Other features such as local parking and traffic cameras are a big plus also. Yay for Garmin getting this fixed in June 2018. I only wish it would launch automatically on the phone when you get in the car.

This works intermittently to none all. Garmin please fix this. The smart link doesn't connect automatically and I even purchased the weather app. I feel like they took my money and ran away with it. Class action?

Smartlink keeps crashing

I installed the newest ios and version of smart-link. Once paired the device works once. After shutting down and restarting the gps will not recognize the smart link. Only the iPhone

Room for improvements

I'm my opinion there are at least 2 major areas for improvements. When you link a phone to the gps unit the link does not always reconnect easily. I have to delete the link and redo the set up process. This take time and is a real pain. The other improvement in my opinion is you should be able to report traffic that the device or app is not showing or delete it if there is no traffic.

I don’t know what happened

I used to be able to turn my Garmin on, open the app, and it would automatically connect. But, now I have to unpair my phone EVERY TIME I want to get traffic updates. It’s very frustrating. I don’t know if it’s something in the software that updated, or what. Please fix this ASAP! Traffic updates are very important and one of the reasons I spent more money on the upgraded unit.

Update: Fixed in 2.9.2. I only use it for traffic and weather. For those it functions OK. I don't use other functions. Original review: My DriveAssist 51 no longer connects. It worked fine before this update. iPhone 6 (10.3.3) still connects fine as a phone, so it's not a Bluetooth issue.
